Mixed bag this week. Busy week at work, all feeling very nervous about what the next few months hold. Tempers are short, it's quite difficult to be around everyone when we all feel so low.

I had some good discussions with senior people, well as high up as I could really I hope I have encouraged positive steps for the future.

One of my colleagues I found out is leaving, she is probably one of the people I relate to most so I will be very sad to see her go.

Yesterday I found out I had won £60 on a penny bingo game!!! I haven't played it for years but spotted a cashback offer before Xmas. I topped up the mandatory 10, played a few games won nothing. Then this week I have been bombarded by email a from the company. So I went on to spend the remainder of my 10.....and won 60!!! I promptly withdrew it.

Today Mr T had his vaccination first thing the wait for the vets was stressful the jab itself over with quickly. £55 later.
We got home dp wanted to go into the next town to deposit money insisted I come, rushing around after dropping MrT back I walked out, he shut the door to my horror he wasn't holding any keys and I definitely didn't have them. He point blank refused to call a locksmith so spent a good 2 hours trying to get in. It would not happen. Eventually he relented. £50 later we were back into our house.

I postponed MrTs groom as his money paid for the locksmith and bingo winnings when cleared I guess will be Mr Ts haircut.

In and straight out again.... Grrrrr

Hopefully tomorrow will be a little better

Off work today DD isn't feeling well she woke at 2am burning hot, didn't get back to sleep til 4pm

So we are awaiting news on the change at work expected to come through next week.
Also next week I secured an external interview for a local council. The job is the same that I do now, there is a bit of a paycut.

I made this application when I first found out about the news at work when I was angry, and in recent weeks I've only become more and more frustrated with how things have panned out. Unless there are reasonable changes made I'm struggling to see me staying there even with the payrise.

So I've looked at my sums. I could do this, it would reduce my savings potential but I'm thinking if I'm happier day to day and if it brings me a better home life balance I'm very tempted by the move.

There are 3 people on the interview panel which surprised me a little, its really not a senior role so I'm not sure if it's just their policy or if it is a new role to them. It's making me a little nervous I won't lie :/

Either way staying put or leaving major change is on the cards!!!

Any news on the work front yet?

It's easy for me as I'm not in your position, but there's no point worrying about whether to take the job before you get offered it. :)

I had my interview Friday, I got a call the same day to offer me the role!!

I was so happy, until they said they hadn't yet worked out what pay band to put me on. I'm expecting to speak to them tomorrow about the offered salary.

Cue this weekend spending a lot of time on excel working out the lowest I could possibly go so I'm not put on the spot too much if they don't offer me what I'd like.

We have had it confirmed if we do not apply internally redundancy will be confirmed by end of March, however to get redundancy I can't hand in my notice. It will be down to discretion then if we are released end of march or if we have to work a month's notice.

I wasn't too sure interview went well so I didn't feel brave enough to ask the question but it will make it so much easier to take the paycut with the redundancy payment. Im going to ask when I do speak to them next and hope for the best.

  • So, the call back I got was an increase but still lower than I'm on now. They did agree however to review my pay at 6 months instead of a year, and allow me to work through redundancy.

Redundancy will clear the two small debts and the rest I plan to leave in accessible savings. My concern is departments are reviewed every few years in the sector I'm in, they have had all deots reviewed but the role I am moving into has not. Management feel there is very little chance of change however management at my place were so shocked at the role out of changes so there's always a chance.

So the accessible savings will be a back up should I be in the same situation before I've had a chance to build up a good payment.

That said, I'm choosing to take this step as there are more departments in new place so I'd hope to be able to secure another role by side stepping if I have to... That isn't really an option at current place due to head office being in North.

I'm cautiously excited, waiting for it all to be confirmed but also saving as much as I can in preparation for salary drop.

    It's all change!!

  • I done a little bank shuffle. One of my accounts I really don't use aside from child benefit coming in and car insurance & council tax & 1 debt going out. Feels a bit pointless, so I'm transferring it to my main account and joint bills to our 'joint ac'.

My gas & electric rocketed recently, I'm expecting a council tax increase and my broadband will come out of promotional price. Whilst I will keep an eye out for better bills, I'm tempted by the lite account cashback by S. It works out £3 per month after the £1 running cost.

I don't want to give up our joint ac as it's £3 monthly fee but rewarded by £7, so £4 free. Then my account is a supermarket account, it pays interest on my standard balance and I get extra points which comes in handy.

So if I do the lite ac, it would only be for utilities and any reward on those is a bonus really.... Can't wait to get started now!!

    The end is in sight!
Deadline for applications was Friday, I didn't submit anything and it really felt like I was doing the right thing, no doubt in my mind at all.

I've gathered all my evidence to drop into new employer next week.
Tax free Childcare account set up ready for new job as I can't carry over childcare vouchers.

Ive saved quite a bit this month but left it in current account which is higher interest than esavings and I'll need it as a cushion. Our rent comes out 21st of the month, I was paid 20th of each month but I'll now be paid end of month so I realised I had to quickly get myself into advance.

I might still need to transfer a little over from savings when the time comes but not as much as I originally thought.

If things plan out as I hope, il clear my 2 small debts as soon as redundancy comes in, then I'm going to top it up until my pay goes up again at 6 months then I will pay off my car finance. With that big payment gone I will be able to save quickly for the house. I've worked it out so I'm not back to zero when the car is paid off, il still have an accessible nest saved if I need it.

In other news, DP proposed, very unexpected but welcome surprise :smileyhea:love:

With everything going on, it almost all seems too good to be true, I'm holding my breath waiting for something to go wrong:eek::rotfl:
