Also, bear in mind that it's usually recommended, for the best sleep experience, to buy duvets one size larger than the bed. Does the next size beyond a superking exist? If it does, do you get enough choice?
Solution to this would be to buy either 2 single or 2 double duvets that way you've got the tog you want and nobody pulls the covers from you.:rotfl:Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -

Mrs G and I have a four poster superking and we sleep a lot better in it than we ever have in kings or doubles. Doubles are too short for me. Neither of us are obese. Mrs G is at the other end of the scale. Also, bear in mind that it's usually recommended, for the best sleep experience, to buy duvets one size larger than the bed. For the best sleep experience (barring two singles) get a superking. There is so much more room that a larger duvet isn't necessary. Finally, and it's a small thing, but consider that one day you'll be selling a small bedroomed house with an oversize bed in it. Viewers will Ppreciate the bed size, they will just interpret the scene as a cramped room.
Good point. One of the reasons show houses often use tiny furniture and have the internal doors removed.0 -

Go into a bed store and lay on a king together and see what you think
I totally agree with this having gone from a double to a kingsize recently.
Also we haven't had any bother getting bedding in superking size, dunelm has a great range for a decent price, we found anywhere else could be pricey0 -
Definitely get two double duvets if you go for the superking. It is what we are doing when I have saved up for the bed we want and the idea of having no cover pulled off me in the night sounds like bliss!
Apparently it is very common in mainland Europe to have this setup, I should imagine it makes changing the bedding easier too.I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me saying "You're next". They stopped when I started doing it to them at funerals0 -
Going from a double to a king size bed stopped a lot of quibbling between me and the Mrs.... can you move over please... I'm on the edge... shift your @rse then... you shift your @rse.
One think to consider though, can you get the new mattress up the stairs and into the room... we really struggled in our old house with a twisty/tight stair case.0 -

Me & my husband have been sleeping in separate beds for to long now... the double is too small for us.
We have ordered the super king. Maybe the extra 6" of the king would have been enough. But we didn't want to risk paying out over a grand for him to end up on spare bed still.
Super king is a single each. We can both spread out & have kids in with us.
The point about the house sale in future is a good one... and one we considered.
But we cant live the next 5yrs worrying about the one day possible selling issue...but hopefully when that time comes ppl will exercise common sense ...0 -

Why affect you chances of good sleep just because you "may" sell your house. It's not difficult for the sake of a grand just buy a smaller bed when you come to sell, if it's an issue.
You've made the right choice getting a bigger bed.
It's funny that we can all sleep in a double or king size with 2 people, yet you try sleeping in a 2ft6 single bed? Which is still more room then 2 people sharing a double, as it's 2ft3 each. The width of a babies cot!Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
We have a superking - best thing we've bought. Either of us can get up in the night and there is not disturbing the other one as can't feel a thing.
Only issue has been moving the blooming thing. It doesn't have side handles so there was much huffing and blowing by the removal men!
It does look massive - ours is on a divan base so no big frame but we only have that and bedside table in our room as OH hates clutter.0
