Super king all the way. Even if you need to build an extension!

What about an ikea kingsize? They use european sizes, so their king size is 160 cm x 200 cm, whereas the uk standard king size sold everywhere else is 150 cm x 200 cm.

Oh didn't know that about ikea I'll look. But then I think for 10 cm on either side of the bed is it worth sacrificing the best sleep.

I work shifts and hubby starts at 6am. Sleep is very important. The s king is like we have a single each but we end up in the same room.

Think I know what we need to do. If it's just a room with a bed in it as long as we sleep in the room together & get good sleep that's all that matters... plus room for our two kids of a morning (early morning !)

    Thanks all

I have a double (6'x4'6")- and it looked large - so I measured it. The whole structure is actually 6'9" long and 4'9" wide - which is why it looked so much larger than the double airbed that was there before.

And then the duvet cover takes up more room.

So, a bed doesn't take up the space that the measurements indicate - it's a lot bigger.

We are looking at a divan and to be honest it runs pretty true to the size of the matter. No foot board or headboard.
The headboard I like will attach to the wall above the bed so saves on space a little :-)

Bedding isn't to much of an issue. We have a king size duvet already and will continue to use this as it's huge as it is.

I found that the king size duvets were'nt big enough. They cover the bed OK but when you are in there it's a bit different.

we have a similar sized room with a superking and its fine, we have a dressing room so its just the bed in the bedroom but works well for us.

    That's reassuring thank you!

It's just hard to picture it but I'm sure it'll be fine !

Getting divan with ottoman so whole underneath is storage which will be very very helpful

Good point. I'll see how we go. As neither is a duvet hog. But that might change when we are miles apart
  • Super king but go for zip link mattress as big ones heavy and hard to turn linen no issues john lewis stock and do duvets etc. Benefit of zip link is u don't feel the other person moving

I find the difference between a double and king is huge, in a king size me and my OH can turn over and get to sleep without nudging each other and because we both like to be different temperatures we are far enough apart to nit affect each other. If you only have a small room I really wouldn't go with the super king as it will just swamp the room when a king should be big enough, go try them out together in a bed shop if you want a feel for size.
