But surely it is you who should be apologising?
You said that the problem was user error when it was actually Amazon fannying around with the payments, and its usually excellent CS not having a clue what they'd done.
Thank you!
Yes the overall problem was that Amazon decided to combine 2 orders placed over two separate days.
They processed a £20 payment for the first order.
They then processed 3 separate payments for the TOTAL of BOTH ORDERS
Thus leaving me £20 out of pocket for a few days until the bank automatically released the 1st payment back to me.
Finally, I got the £20 back, and they took the final payment of £3.34 out of my bank!0 -

Just a heads up why this happened.
Basically where possible Amazon will try to ship things together, so if you place 2 orders even days apart if the are coming from the same warehouse they will more than likely send them together.
When you originally place an order Amazon will send the amount through to the bank, in your case £20 and £30.
They don't actually take the payment from the bank until the item is dispatched, in this case they have dispatched in 3 different shipments so that's why there were 3 amounts showing.
The bank hasn't recognised that the payment Amazon have taken is the same as the £20 that they were holding and have treated it like a whole new payment.0 -

They didn't ship the order together. It came in three separate orders in the end and delivered over two different days!0 -

Yeah, that's why I said where possible.
If something is coming from Scotland and another from Wales those are not going to be in the same package regardless of them being ordered together.
What you are saying here is the same as what I said here:
"They don't actually take the payment from the bank until the item is dispatched, in this case they have dispatched in 3 different shipments so that's why there were 3 amounts showing."
This is how Amazon will always process payments, so it's not them messing about with it as someone earlier thought.
The person at customer services should have been able to explain clearly what had happened as this has been the case with Amazon orders for at least 2 years.0
