It seems to be getting a bit abusive now.

I think mocking someone for having debt problems goes against the principles of this website....

Quite a lot of people on this site come here for debt advice and I think using their posts in another thread for cheap point scoring is very very unpleasant behaviour.

    Absolutely priceless!

Dayton0 starts up on the OP about the state of her finances in his continued, desperate, attempt to shift the blame from Amazon.

OP mentions (with backup) that Dayton0 is not really in a position of strength when it comes to advising on responsible financing and this poster takes issue with HER!

    You couldn't make it up.

JReacher: If you are going to make patronising posts telling people how they should organise their finances then its PERFECTLY acceptable for your target to point out you are not really in a position to be offering such advice.

A lot of people on this site who offer financial advice have been declared bankrupt or had serious financial problems. People who have been through these experiences are often very knowledgable and helpful about how to avoid getting in the same situation.

All the poster did was question whether it was sensible to spend £50 on books if money was that tight that £20 was going to cause a problem.

it seems like you are against the principle of this website if you think it's acceptable to mock people who have serious historic debt issues.

This I agree with 100%. I was about to post a similar comment myself.
All the poster did was question whether it was sensible to spend £50 on books if money was that tight that £20 was going to cause a problem.

But it did come across as rather patronising and the poster merely said this was a possibility.

    Absolutely correct.

However, in this instance, the poster in question was just defending herself against an implied suggestion that she wasn't operating with the utmost financial probity.

I think her comment was perfectly fair, given that bringing her finances into the thread was completely irrelevant when the vent was about Amazon miss-charging and their CS not handling the matter well.

Priceless. Who started the mocking first?

I am not mocking him / her i.e. daytona0 I am clearly pointing out that they have no right to question me on my finances (as they did in this thread) when they have experienced issues themselves. It's a public forum, share information and it might come back to bite you on the bum, especially when you play the holier than thou card! If daytona0 had not questioned my finances so publically I would not have had any need to pull up old posts from them!

And how do you know I do not have historic debt issues?

I don't think her comment was fair as I think it's wrong to post up two historic forum posts from Daytona mocking their financial history.

This thread will soon be locked I am sure as it's gone off track and now become abusive.

I think you were justified because daytona0's comments were neither relevant to the thread, nor, as far as I can see, correctly targeted.

On the other hand, if someone had posted about an actual cash flow problem and he had offered relevant advice, it wouldn't be pertinent to bring up his past problems.

But since that wasn't what happened ...

  • Wow, just checked this, it's gone a bit mental.
