Had a call from Sky today, a week or so after cancelling. They offered 50% off but I didn't accept. I'm actually thinking of not having sky (I don't really watch anything more than freeview anyway...)0

Ok so just an update on my recent Broadband/phone negotiations. I rang and said I wanted to cancel and was offered half price line rental and either free unlimited broadband or unlimited fibre for £12.50. So that's effectively unlimited broadband for £8.70 or unlimited fibre for £21.20. I politely declined and cancelled. Today I recontacted and was given free line rental but pay full price for broadband or fibre. So effectively £7.50 for broadband or £20.00 for fibre (plus a free sky Q hub). I accepted the £7.50 broadband deal but am seriously thinking of upgrading to fibre at that price.0

Last year i got 40/10 fibre for £15, free line rental and anytime calls for £8 making a total of £23PM.
I was on 7mb broadband and haggled for the fibre but at the time Sky were doing fibre for £10 but i could only get it fro £15 but got the fre line rental.
My issue is now that the new 1 year line rental/calls contract finishes on 3/02/2017 but my fibre min term finishes on 25/02/2017 due to time it took for the fibre to be switched on.
How should i approach Sky about getting the same deal or nearly the same as the fibre has over 5 weeks to go before min term is over.
I have looked at BT and i could of got what i have for £29.99 without the mobile calls for 12 month contract but that offer expires today and i only want a 12 month contract as maybe moving early next year so dont want to be tied to a 18/24 month contract.0 -

We had a small HD box a couple of years back which we'd paid for from Amazon, I simply called them up and told them I thought it was failing and pointed out that we'd not had a box off them since our original white box. They happily sold us a 2TB one for £50. Just be brave and hold out until you're happy with the offer.
I managed a deal with a 2 Tb HD box and a second standard HD box to replace the old Sky + box by taking a Multiroom deal AND an offer on movies and box sets at £36.50 pm, both boxes supplied free. (Or at least you could not sell them or dispose of them for 12 months). We never used the multi room and the standard box has never been used except when it was installed.0 -

Has anybody had any deals getting on fibre/line rental and calls lately from Sky ?
I noticed that Sky are only doing 18 month contracts on fibre now when they were doing 12 months.0 -

Received the below email this morning from Moneywise:
Sky customers will be hit with a range of inflation busting price hikes from 1 March.
Moneywise warned that Sky customers that price rises were likely after an advert was spotted stating that price changes were due on 1 March.
Sky wouldn’t confirm this at the time, but it has since announced the following price changes - although it wouldn't tell us how many customers are affected:- Line rental rising from £17.40 a month to £18.99 a month – a £1.59 – or 9% - monthly increase. (Although prices will remain at £17.40 a month for those who only take line rental and no other products from Sky.)
- Some TV customers who are either on legacy products, or who had previously been benefitting from a lower price, will see their bills brought into line with current pricing. Sky says this will see an average increase of less than £3 a month. For example, some customers with the Unlimited Bundle pay £20 a month, but this will rise to £22 a month – a £2 a month – or 10% increase.
- Some broadband customers who are either on legacy products, or who had previously been benefitting from a lower price, will see their bills brought into line with current pricing. Sky says this will see an average increase of less than £3 a month. For example, some customers with Sky Broadband Unlimited pay £7.50 per month, but their price will rise to £10.00 per month – a £2.50 a month – or 33% increase.
The cost of Sky Talk packages will remain the same, but certain calls for Sky Talk customers calling outside of their package and for non-Sky Talk customers are rising. Key changes are as follows:
- Calls to UK landlines will rise from 11.5p per minute to 12.54p per minute – a 9% increase.
- Calls to UK mobiles during the day will rise from 11.5p per minute to 19.35p per minute – a 68% increase
- Calls to UK mobiles during the evening will rise from 11.5p per minute to 14.25p per minute – a 24% increase.
These prices will also come into force for new customers from 1 March.
In comparison, inflation stood at 1.6% in the year to December 2016 – according to the most recent figures available. Sky last upped line rental prices in December 2015.
I’m a Sky customer. Can I leave penalty free?
If you’re within your minimum contract term – which varies from 12 to 18 months depending on the deal you signed up to – you can leave penalty free as a result of these price hikes within 30 days of receiving notification of the price rises.
If you’re outside of your minimum contract term and you’re a Sky TV customer, you can cancel at any time penalty free by giving 31 days’ notice.
If you’re outside of your minimum contract term and you’re a Sky Talk or Broadband customer, you can leave penalty free at any time by giving 10 days’ notice.
To cancel, you need to call Sky or speak to a ‘Live Chat’ advisor online.
Affected customers will be notified of any changes to their bills by letter or email between 25 January and 25 February.
Of course if you want to stay with Sky, haggle for a better deal saying you can’t afford the price increases – many customers have reported success in doing this.
Why is Sky raising prices?
Sky says the price rises reflect its ongoing investment in its onscreen TV line up, the cost of delivering a physical landline for calls and line rental to customers’ doors, investment in technology, and investment in its customer service.
Are other providers increasing costs?
Yes, other telecoms providers have also recently introduced or announced price rises. Here’s a roundup:- BT: Ten million Customers will be hit with broadband, line rental, home phone, BT Sport and certain call cost price hikes from 2 April 2017.
- TalkTalk: Up to four million customers were hit with line rental, broadband, TV, home phone, and call cost increases from 4 November 2016. The provider has however, since launch a range of fixed price broadband products
- Virgin Media: Millions were hit with broadband, line rental, and certain bundle price hikes from 1 November 2016.

has anyone used the loss of Eurosport and discovery channels as a bargaining tool? I am planning on calling up today as our contract finishes beginning of March and i'm not paying the £78 they want and we watch Eurosport so will give it a go.0

Not yet, waiting to see if the channels do actually get switched off, at the moment, they are just advising that they 'may' get switched off, once they are switched off, that's when the arguments will start. I only started with sky Q last November, and will happily cancel, although I'm aiming for a discount first, but will cancel as per T & C's seem to allow. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

I came to that same conclusion. I watch a lot of Netflix and Freeview and wondered why I was actually subscribing to someone that shows me adverts all the time. I cancelled and am now without Sky and not missing it one bit.
I bought a box on Ebay for about £36 which is both a Freesat and Freeview box and now with the savings from Sky I can get more streaming services as well. It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0
