More good news. Sky advised me that my bband and phone contract was coming to an end this month and the best deal that they could offer me was £38 per month for unlimited fibre bband and anytime calls. So I am moving to Plusnet for £31.99 per month for the same package.
It seems that sky are playing hard ball at the moment for any good deals or price matching. Their loss not mine.
Amazing. Sky offered me £50 credit on my account. Trouble is that is still more than Plusnet £31.99 per month so I declined. They even wanted to charge me a £2.50 admin charge but after I disputed the charge, they let me off.
In the good old days Sky would match prices.
Oh well bye bye Sky phone and bband.
By the way, you can BT sports for £5 per month with Plusnet (half price for first 5 months. Then just cancel it and start again the next day). Just give Plusnet your sky card number and they will get it sorted.0 -

Beyond a one off letter, around switch-off time, offering 50% once more, I have only had the regular circulars sent out in publications.
Perhaps they don't want we stubborn ex-customers who don't want their bells and whistles Q set up, though serving us, while our HD+ boxes work, is cheaper than having to provide a Q box which they will have to maintain and money from us is better than nothing, as we choose to leave They will still have the same costs if 1000 customers leave, but will lose the income from that 1000.
The only thing I miss is the sleek way in which the Sky box integrates on air, catchup and on demand services, but a new Humax will sort that. (Actually better to try the old one first, as I've managed without even that for two months).0 -
I have just cancelled as my 12 month deal is ending. My current deal is Box sets, HD and Sports for £16.37 with £100 credit. Unsurprisingly they weren't prepared to extend this! Best they offered was 50% off on an 18 month contract, so I have cancelled. I would never commit to 18 months anyway, so goodbye Sky, until the next crazy offer!0

Sky don't seem to want to be competitive anymore and have perhaps decided that if a huge offer can't retain us ,nothing will., but it's their own fault for spoiling us, as once you've had a good offer you don't want to revert to higher prices.

I think they want customers who give them more profit as opposed to retaining customers and show a bigger customer number on their books.
So stronger profit compared to subscriber numbers seems to be their way at the moment. I hope more people say goodbye and when they realise in a few months that customer numbers also means bigger profit in terms of advertising etc they'll come grovelling back.
The murdoch bid to buy out sky had a lot to do with their strategy and he will dictate whatever he sees fit to gain a !!!!!! profit if he gets his way.0 -
I've just come off the blower to retentions.
I'm currently on a rolling contract with the old Box sets package with a Sky+ HD BOX. Current total cost £38 pm
I tried to haggle for the 2tb Q box as I've a 4k tv.
New offer was to keep existing box set for £31 pm (18% discount). No discount on the 2tb Q box with installation £199.
They offered an £85 install if I took the multi screen box for an extra £12 pm.
When I refused either deal they offered a £20 install on the 1tb box.
Not impressed with offers so 31 day notice period served. From reading the forum I suspect that the offer will not improve.0 -
My sky goes off next Saturday...was on live chat earlier in weeks and I asked about the following
Box sets in HD with Multioroom
Think this is 38 pounds plus 12 for HD multiroom
So 50quid....said he could do it for 34.60 and would not budge on this and no account cr3dit...
Is this the max SKY are offering now .?0 -

I think you need the multiroom box to access 4K content (and possibly the 2TB box) anyway. All of which makes it an expensive proposition.0 -

Agreed. There actually doesn't appear to be that much 4k content at present,I was looking at it more for future proofing but having second thoughts.
Sky have offerer 30% off my present package if I stay with them. I'll see if they improve on that offer over the next couple of weeks and might try and see if they'll do the 30% off + a £20 install on the 1TB box.0 -

Ah future proofing, does anyone remember all of those amazingly expensive 3D TV's?
On your present equipment 50% + £25 credit seems to be the max for the TV packages, they're playing hardball with Q though.0 -
