    Hiya Tink,

Sounds like a good plan, if nothing else like you say to support your mum as she gets older & save for your own future. It also for now free's up your flat for another family in need.

Be aware, when the inevitable happens, they may agree that they have a duty to house you but their only duty will be to offer you a suitable property, so perhaps if DD has grown up and moved out, a 1 bed flat somewhere.

That said, by the times this comes around you will probably have your deposit saved and be well on the way to buying your own forever home anyway!

I hope your dogs do get on. Meeting on neutral ground is a good idea, your mums dog may just show her dominance, and as long as Mr D is submissive they stand a good chance.

Mr T previously has never taken heed of any dominant dogs, though this weekend he was really told of by a little bully. He did for once in his life take notice and stopped trying to make friends :D

Hi Bellevie. |t's just one of those bridges like you say and I will deal with it when it happens, and I like the idea of having a deposit saved by then for my forever home. I've never settled anywhere since moving out of my old rented property a couple of years ago.

Poor Mr T, he was only trying to be friendly. This is the biggest obstacle or it could happen straight away. I'm gutted we didn't do it yesterday so we have an idea but I just wasn't up to it. I think the thing that worries my mum the most is in case they start a fight when she is on her own.

Hope you've had a good day.

  • Tink and DIA, if you are including things like emergency info in your journal you might be interested to look at the FlyLady version, which is called a Control Journal. It has cleaning routines and other life admin reminders in.

I used one when I was doing full on FlyLady but I've gone a bit more electronic since then and I'm not sure I'd go back to the full paper version - for example if I were listing books I would do it in a spreadsheet so that it can be changed easily and saved online to access from anywhere. I do have one that outlines the value of things in the house for estimating insurance and if I were to start a detailed one I'd probably put them together.

I am putting off looking at bullet journals til the new year but will investigate then :D

Hi Rosa, thanks for the information but I am so scared to look up control journals. It might cause another addiction lol. I know I will though and see if there are more pages I can add to mine.

I did try going electronic but I just love putting pen to paper. I even make daily lists at work now and my boss loves them. He just picks up my note book if he needs to know where I am up to. I draw a line at him writing in it though lol.

Hope you're ok. Have you heard from MT. I'm a bit worried about her.

I know what you mean about pen to paper, I do find I go back to notebook versions for some things.

I haven't seen anything from MT yet - I hope she's just away having fun, but as we've posted on her thread she will know people are thinking of her.

  • Hi sorry to butt in but I've been reading your thread :)
Glad things are better for you than they were at the start of your diary !!
With regards to moving in with your mum- could you do a house swap with her so that you get the house and she gets the flat and then she could give up the flat to move in with you and so you both end up in the house but with it in you name? (she obviously doesnt actually move anywhere but in name only ofc)

Not sure if i've explained that properly or even if your council allow mutual exchanges.

Yep, that's the nub Rosa. For me it isn't either, or. There's lots on spreadsheets and word documents that I don't need immediate access to but bullet journalling so far is great for the mess that is in my head, for the ideas and appointments and future actions. It really works for me as I like pages and paper and holding a soft leather 'thing' It's kind of like a hot water bottle for the soul :D

  • Hi DIA unfortunately I wasn't feeling too well last weekend so they didn't meet but we are going out for a walk tomorrow afternoon. I have the week after next off so we are going to spend every day meeting up. I'm really hoping this all goes well. I know I have spent a bit of money on my flat doing the decorating but there isn't anything to do at mums so that's a bonus. We each have a built in wardrobe in the bedrooms so we are going to start sorting those out and getting stuff mum wants to keep in the loft and then also sorting her shed out so I can get mine empty before the carp weather sets in.

If they get on during that week then me and DD plan to start staying over on a Saturday night to see how they cope together for a full day. Mr D sleeps on my bed anyway and Miss B sleeps on mums so I can't see that being an issue.

I've not had a good week this week really, felt a bit low. I suspect its my cough as it is giving me a constant headache and waking me up during the night. A lovely bunch of flowers got delivered today by a very lovely friend so that cheered me up and my new budget cheap from wish planner arrived today so I am going to spend the afternoon setting that up and I have quite a few pen pal letters to catch up on.

Moneywise need to update signatures as I have had a payment go out so that will reduce slightly but from now until new year it will be just the minimums and then after new year I'm really going to blast it.

Hope everyone has a lovely relaxing weekend.

  • Sorry you've not had a good week Tink It probably is lack of sleep making it worse.
I hope you enjoyed writing letters to your pen pals.
Fingers crossed that Mr D and Miss B get on well enough.

    Take care,
    DIA x

Sounds like you are making progress Tink, even if it feels like it's through treacle atm. Hope your cough gets better soon.

  • So today has been quite productive. Took the doggies for their first walk. Met near my mums and we didn't let them get to close. Miss B snarled a little bit but we went for a walk and they didn't bother with each other again. Going to do this again a couple of times and then let them start getting closer.

And I have finally uploaded 29 items on to eBay. I already have 3 watchers on two different items. Here's hoping.

Haven't had time today to update my totals. Will do this tomorrow.
