Those dark clouds certainly do need to be blown away MT. They got as dark as the storms we have had this weekend. Not been good.
Took DD out for the day on Friday and spent less than £15 so that was good. Feel guilty that I haven't taken her on holiday for a couple years. Cheap holiday a must next year.
I'm sure there is something wrong with OH. One minute he will be fine and planning things and within the next hour he's saying such hurtful things from nowhere. I have suggested at times that he needs to go to the doctors. He's not violent just really mean from nowhere and I really don't know how much more I can take.
The old me would never have put up with this and I lay awake last night wondering how I can get that EF or maybe a way out.
Sorry for the rambling. Not much to report on money apart from having a NSD today and I'm skinter than skint.
Here's to a better day tomorrow.

Evening Tinks...:)
Glad to see you back... We missed you already :kisses:
Must be difficult for you at the moment but try to get some rest and recharge those batteries of yours.
You must be under a great deal of pressure so nice to hear you had a good day with DD
:T
Well done on the NSD even if it was dictated by finances rather than planned
Hope Your Monday is good

Hello Tink,
Relationships can be so difficult, especially when you feel you're compromising yourself to keep things on an even keel. You definitely need to fix a holiday for you and your DD. Could you look at what you'd like to do now so that you can figure out prices and put a small amount away each month for it?
I really hope you manage to sort things out there, as it's so draining and you're far too lovely to be drained.
NS Days are the best remedy for being skint!

Hi Sam and MT. Thank you for the lovely replies. I'm feeling so much more positive today. The holiday will be budgeted into YNAB when I know how much I'm getting paid monthly. She will be so made up.
Other news that I have realised. My salary isn't really high but I looked on a mortgage budget calculator last night and I'm shocked to discover I would be (hopefully) offered a mortgage by my bank if I had a £5k deposit. This has given me such a boost knowing that if I got a good EF I could actually buy something.
Lots to think about and I think that is the biggest push I needed to stick to budgets and get debts gone.
Hope you all have a lovely day. The sun is shining here.

Ok so maybe yesterday I was a little excited and ahead of myself thinking about a mortgage. BUT, I am going to get the details of the house that I really like, stick it in my diary and it will be a reminder to me that I need to get rid of the debts and get saving.
Roll on Friday when I get paid, seem to have been in limbo since I got my LBM and not having paid anything off yet is dragging.
Things with OH seem to have settled down a bit but I'm always wary as to how long it will last. Sometimes I feel like I'm walking on egg shells just to keep him happy and its not making me happy. Although I always manage to put a brave face on for DD.
We had a lovely day out yesterday although a bit spendy. Had to get her school shoes. It was the only thing I hadn't got as I was really prepared this year and got it all at the beginning of the holidays.
We then went and browsed a couple of pound shops and had a walk round a craft shop. Disaster everted as I put a few things in the basket and by the time we got to the till I'd put all of them back. DD is a up and coming photographer and needs craft bits to do her portfolio. She is lucky in the fact that I used to love scrapbooking and card making so do have quite a stash. She did treat herself though from her own pocket money.
She is totally on board with me. She knows I have debt, but not how much and she also understands why we haven't been on holiday. She is the best. It was always me and her for so long which has made us so close. She also knows I'm on here but doesn't know my user name. As for OH he wouldn't understand why I was on here which sometimes makes it hard for me to post.
So todays list is:-
Set up budgets on YNAB ready for payday.
Get statements for credit cards.
Open a savings account with a totally different bank (It's too easy to transfer money on my app)
Get house details to put in my diary.
Sorry for the rambling again, feels so good to get this out somewhere.

If you are using mortgage affordability calculators make sure you use a very detailed one - if you don't already (like Nationwide's http://www.nationwide-intermediary.co.uk/calculators/aff_calc ). The basic calculators are very misleading...
Also, a quick (free) phone conversation with one of those independent brokers doesn't hurt, they can tell you how much you could afford and what to do to best prepare yourself. This forum's mortgage section is also super-useful, perhaps you can post questions there, there are many brokers answering questions. It was one of my main sources of info when I bought my flat.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks for the info GW. It would be nice to know what is available out there to me. Maybe its something to add to the list before I start my new job.

Hello Tink,
Your day yesterday sounded so lovely. It's really nice that you've also maintained the closeness with your daughter, even now you're in a relationship. That's lovely to read.
Walking on egg shells isn't nice. I've had that before and it's quite draining. Even when they're doing nothing wrong, you're still on red alert that it could all change at any moment. It's good that you're making steps towards options for yourself.
Hopefully you're managing to figure out YNAB ok. I went through their little introduction videos when I first started (the ones they email you when you sign up) and found those really useful in getting to grips the idea of it all.
I get paid on Friday too and half of me is shouting "hurry up" and the other is "hang on, I'm not ready!" as I have to prep YNAB for the month and I'm away the first week, which is when I do my transferring. I'm hoping that as I dock in places I'll get my data on my phone so that I can log on and check my accounts.
I've actually got lots of different accounts in lots of different places. If you have less than £2K to save then have a look at the TSB account that gives 5% interest. It's a current account, but pays far more in interest than any easy access savings account I'm aware of.
