advice please.

Hi I purchased a washing machine from costco online , I paid on a debit card for it , and I noticed the money allocated /pending.. I purchased the machine last Thursday and now it's Wednesday and I've noticed the money allocated for the machine is back in my bank yet the machine has been delivered... how is this possible if it was allocated. .?.. does the person you pay have so long to claim the money?

6 months without notice. After that they have 5.5 years but are required to notify you first.

No. They can ask/chase you for the money, but can't just 'notify' you and take it.

I am worried that if I use the money for it and then in a few weeks time I don't have the money and they try and take it, it will send me overdrawn. I am not sure the bank will let me got that much overdrawn.

Don't use this money then until it's taken. As simple as that.
  • like grumbler said, don't use the money. It is spoken for, If you spend it and they then ask for it, what then?

If it's a debit card payment, it WILL take you overdrawn when it's requested. It is a guaranteed form of payment. DON'T spend it.
