Thank you for all the congratulations guys, its such an amazing feeling going to work knowing they could make me redundant and i wouldn't really care!
Just 2 months to go now until Baby arrives. We have got most of our gear and baby furniture. In true money saving fashion though im going to upcycle a pine chest of drawers and bed side cabinet in order to match our new white cot and changing table.
On the money front, being mortgage free has meant we have been able to keep on saving despite the baby costs. We should be up to about 10k in the pot before baby comes. We are going to start a s&s ISA for baby savings with the £80 a month child benefit from the government.
With my political head on, i think its crazy we can still get the £80 a month even though we really dont "need" it. Should definitely be a lower earnings limit on it. I wont complain though!Mortgage Free 22/03/17

New baby is now 5 months old. She is keeping us busy!
Potential developments though...we possibly might be offering on a bigger house soon so will possibly be starting the journey again at 100-150k. It pains me to think about taking on a mortgage though after nearly a year of zero outgoings!Mortgage Free 22/03/17

They had another offer from someone living with their parents with money in the bank.

Hi Everyone! Long time no post! Hope all your journeys to mortgage freedom are going well, its still an amazing feeling all these months later.
On the house front, we have decided to stay put and do a loft conversion on our current place. The conversion will add 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom up there. At the same time we are knocking our master through into the tiny box room nextdoor. THis will take our house from 2 doubles and a box room to 4 doubles!
There is a fella coming out to go through the details this week. We have about half the money to do it in savings and will be getting a 20k loan for the other half. Going back into debt is scary but with loans you can overpay without penalty so we will be getting rid of it as soon as we can.Mortgage Free 22/03/17

That sounds amazing JimLad! When you consider that you were going to have another mortgage of 100-150k then 20k is not bad at all.0

Well done, I have heard a lot doing that as they like where they are staying, so solution for larger house, staying put.
Eventually, I would like to put an en-suite into the end bedroom I have, shouldn't be too difficult, says she who has no knowledge of plumbing :rotfl:seen it when browsing round ike@ amazing what you can get in a little space.
