What surprised me even more is the amount people donate. The travelling fund above had a donation of £3k made! I'm assuming these people are family and friends but why would you do this?

This makes me sad, my sports team are fundraising their backsides off for safety equipment, we made <£100 in a year of crowdfunding yet people can get massive donations to travel :(

She needs a slap for using the term "Yummy mummy". This phrase infuriates me without asking people to fund her.

Also £240 to join a weightloss group? Do they replace the lost lbs with gold?

Rampant Recycler I've been Money Tipped!
I might crowdfund my life and see what gullible folk choose to donate!

It's like that story of the guy who did a crowdfund for potato salad and got around $30k..

This! it's even worse when on Facebook someone is called, for example, Jane YummyMummy Doe. That is not and has not ever been your middle name and nobody cares if you're a mum or not!

I'm another one who can't believe the crowdfunding things, okay if it's for charity, but the whole holidays, deposit for a house, geez!

As for the betting on child birthweight etc., we did this in my family for my youngest. We each put £10 in, my dad won, he got £40 which he gave back to me to buy stuff for my daughter, haha.

For those of you who know me, I have been sensible with money for years. I'd like a pair of Louboutin shoes to help me lead a more glamorous lifestyle - my kids deserve to have a glamorous mum with great shoes. They cost £425 which I'm too tight to pay for myself so I'm begging my friends to pay for thes to help me have great shoes and get my mojo back.

I know there are starving children in Africa and refugees and homeless people that you could give your money to but it's more important to focus on my looks.

(This is a parody in case anyone thinks I'm serious.)

So.... this evening I was added to a FB (Sigh!) group, the accompanying message read:

"For those of you that know me well, I have been struggling with my weight for years. I am desperate tp get a place on *weightloss group am chosing not to name* to help me to lead a healthier lifestyle and lose my baby belly....the kids need a yummy mummy!!! The problem: it costs £240 which i dont have to spare so im shouting out to my friends to see if you may be able to 'donate' a few quid to help me get skinny and get my mojo back???!!!"

The lady in question earns decent money (high £30ks, so £10k or so more than me) and her husband earns also - Am I right to feel that this is madly cheeky or am I just being a bit selfish!? :money:

I'd send her a link to this site - she'd easily be able to save that amount by following the good advice given for free.

It's her own fault she's fat, she needs to take responsibility for it herself, if she can't save up a few hundred quid for fat camp she's not going to appreciate it and it won't work, you have to want to lose weight.

Thats the problem, some people these days want others to do things for them She cant be very good at motivating herself, the idea of losing weight should be enough of a motivation for her to not ask money and just get going for a jog, cutting out fatty foods etc.

Theres even a crowd funding website for breast enlargements where men can donate money so the women can get the op done.
