People who pull into petrol stations to get petrol/diesel then wait near the entrance from the road so they can dive on the first pump that becomes free rather than just go and pull up behind random car at random pump.

Then get the !!!! with me cos I'll drive around them to wait at a pump. Invariably, I've got my petrol quicker than them :rotfl:

Oh aye, if you're getting fuel too, i've no issues. Its the people who rock up and park in the middle of the petrol pumps then go in for shopping.

    people do that?
  • people do that?

I don't think people pull up to the petrol pump and then JUST go and do a load of shopping! :rotfl:

I have never seen that happen!

What happens is people pull up to the pump and get fuel, and then they lock their car, and then go to the little petrol station shop to pay. Then they grab some bread, milk, sandwiches, chewing gum, a paper whatever, and then go pay for that along with the fuel.

I don't think people just pull up at the petrol pumps and jump out and grab a trolley and do a week's shopping, whilst the car is sat by the petrol pump! :p

My manager invariably overschedules herself and is always running at least 10 minutes late. Sometimes more (although at least if it's more she lets me know). I tend to be fairly laid back about it most of the time, I usually bring something to read or do til she arrives. But lately as work has started to get a lot busier it has started to get on my nerves. Funny thing is that her family do get frustrated and keep saying to her 'do you think you will be on time' and she doesn't get the hint, she thinks they are being really unreasonable.

On the other side, DH almost always ends up waiting for me. But that's because he tends to want to leave about ten minutes before our agreed time (and our agreed time is always already way too early for where we need to be). I usually have a list of things I want to get done before we go - sorting some washing or putting the dishwasher on or whatever, but he thinks I should just abandon ship and leave because he happens to be ready. I don't know how often we've ended up in a coffee shop for 10 minutes because we've been too early for something. Or driving around because in my view it is rude to arrive early to someone's house if you're invited (especially if they have little children and are most likely doing a frantic tidy up!). DH thinks it's perfectly acceptable though and way better than being even five minutes late.

I should stress I'm a bang on time person - I can cope with being 5 minutes late but even at that I'm apologetic and any more and I feel really uncomfortable...

On Stagecoach busues, there are certain stops during the route that the driver is not allowed to pass before a certain time.
There is some sort of timer in the ticket machine and they can get into trouble if they leave too early.

If a bus timetable has rush hour built into the timings and your journey is during a quiet traffic period, the driver may have to stop several times to get back onto the correct timetable.

They looked into it, but said they couldn't give me details of any outcome, due to data protection

I'm another one who seems to have problems with receptionists ... Last week it was the dental receptionist who thought it was more important to continue her conversation about who was going to be the new fire warden for their part of the building. I wouldn't have minded so much except that this was a dental practice for children with special needs, our autistic son was already lively when we walked in and she raised a finger to us to say "wait a moment" - he was in full escape mode by the time she deigned to sign us in, and then expected me to complete a four page form because they had "updated their systems and needed more information". Hmmmph. She got the form, half-completed, thrown back at her.

We holidayed once with two other couples.

We'd all be sat round in the lounge, ready - as we thought - to go out, and one of the chaps would say "I've just got to clean my teeth."

One day, after about twenty minutes, we sent his wife to find out what he was up to. She came back. "I have no idea what he's doing, but he's taken all his clothes off."

When he eventually appeared, he explained that he'd decided that as he hadn't put clean underpants on for breakfast that morning, he needed to do so now, which meant taking a shower, and then he needed to find a clean shirt, and ... and ... and ...

He was an only child, and I think the world had revolved around him for most of his life.

I have yet to go to the doctor OR the dentist, and get in on time. I almost always have to wait 15 to 30 minutes after my appointment time.

One time my doctor's appointment was 8.40am (ten minutes after they opened,) and I wasn't called in til 9.05am. He was 25 minutes behind, by the SECOND appointment of the day! (The doctor turning up 10 minutes late didn't help either.)

I have also been to the dentist for 2pm before (the first appointment after lunch,) and he waltzes in at 2.07pm, and calls me in at 2.10pm, so he is already 10 minutes behind before he has started! 3 out of every 4 times, I don't get into my dental appointment until half an hour to 40 minutes after the appointment time...

The hairdresser and the optician annoy me too, although they aren't as bad as the doctor and dentist. They are almost always 15-20 minutes behind.

To be fair, it's not always their fault. I've had appointments which only take a few minutes. Whereas other appointments take much longer.

I did once complain that I'd been waiting 30 minutes and still hadn't been called. I'd turned up one hour too early. oops.

Littl'un has a check-up appointment at the hospital on Thursday morning, he's in first at 8:30am. Wonder what time we'll actually be seen ...
