People using up your time

It's not anyone's fault that the bus is full, they obviously need to put on more buses. as you say "unless I have a definite need to get somewhere by a specific time" nobody knows the reason why people get that particular timed bus. Live and let live.
That's right, the people who actually pay for their tickets.
And it is actually taking up my time because if I need to be somewhere by a specific time, I need to build in extra time because the buses often run late because of the sheer volume of passengers.Simply_Ted wrote: »My pet hate is people who park in a baby and toddler space, when the "baby" is at least 5 years or over, they seem to think they have a reserved space for life.
I guess you could argue that - if you have a toddler and the designated spaces are all full, you have to use a space further away.0 -

The regulars who get on every morning, show their passes and then have to get off again as it's too early. It's the same ones every morning.
Then there's the mass of pensioners who, having got morning hospital appointments, show up too early in the hope of getting in earlier having no particular place to go, nothing in particular to do - they just have the rest of the day to themselves then.
Jeepers, they're irritating.
I tell you what is irritating....how this is turning into a pensioner bashing thread.
How do you know what their itinary for the day is? They might have plenty of things planned, they might not have the rest of the afternoon to themselves.
I think for a lot of them, if they know it's going to be a bad day weather wise, they want to get up and out and back home settled before the rain and the winds (for example) come.
My MIL rises early and quite often goes into town for 9am. I think we're one of the areas where you can't use your pass before a certain time, but it doesn't bother her as she'll just pay. Because like it or not, if she wants to get down early so she can get her shopping or whatever then that's that's up to her. Or sometimes she needs to get that early bus because it's a connecting bus to go to the nearest city.
I think that sometimes other people (and this is in general) bother themselves with other people's business too much. There could be 101 reasons why that person is on that bus at a certain time....none of which are anyone else's business.0 -
Believe me, I'm not intolerant of old people - I'm over 60 myself. But if I ever get hold of a gold card, I will not be trying to get on the first post 09:30 bus that come past my stop unless I have a definite need to get somewhere by a specific time.
If you're over 60 then you should qualify for one.0 -
Yeah right. Put on more buses. And who will pay for that increase in cost to the bus companies?
That's right, the people who actually pay for their tickets.

Because of course, those of us who don't work don't have to be somewhere at a specific time.
Some of us catch the early buses to avoid the crowds too.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

It's now been linked to the state pension age (unless funded additionally by councils):

Getting back the real thread....hijackers !
I had a friend who's issue was to never give up more time than was absolutely neccessary. Meaning that we would never leave for anywhere or he would not arrive anywhere in time that was 'his'. It's really difficult to explain, however if we were due to be anywhere at 12, he would no-way use any of HIS time to be there, so it would be half-twelve. Typical days would go something like this:
1) Arrive at his house for 11.30 as we are due for a photoshoot in the next town at 12. Beep the horn as I thought he would jump in.
2) Beckoned in the house because he's not ready (watching TV and having a cuppa)
3) Regaled with genuinely funny story until around 11.55, then say, I'll just tell you this, then we'll leave.
4) At 12 he says, "right we best go, I'll just have a shower and then we're off".
5) So we leave 15 mins late for the next town.
His missus is just the same, completely oblivious to the fact that she's holding everyone up. I think it's something to do with no having kids and not needing to compromise EVER. Certainly agree with the comments that it's about bending the situation so they are in control. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I've been in receipt of an occupational pension for over 10 years so I guess I could be called a pensioner too (although not yet in receipt of my state pension).
It might not be any of my business why pensioners try to cram onto the first free bus available to them but it does use up my time - which is the subect of the thread (so no highacking of the thread at all).0 -
But the buses these people try to catch are absolutely rammed so it's not a case of avoiding the crowds.
I can't imagine getting on an 'absolutely rammed' bus for the sheer joy of it. Probably best to just assume they on the bus to get where they are going, like everybody else, and try not to stress over it!
I work full time, but with my hours spread over three or four long days, so I suppose I'm often one of these mid week time wasters who dares to get up and move around and go places even though technically I could just stay at home and not get in anybody's way!0 -

I just build extra time in so that I avoid these buses (hence my comments being on topic about using my time) so instead of catching a bus that will pick up pensioners over 75% of the journey (and probably take 10-15 minutes extra), I catch an earlier bus that will only hit the last few stops after 09:30am or get in before 09:30.0
