Problems with talk talk broadband

We are currently using talk talk as our phone and broadband supplier and recently we have been experiencing problems with our wireless signal in house. WE use to get good coverage but recently we cannot get it upstairs and now for no reason none of the devices will pick up wireless so we have to use a cable to connect. The router is a HUawei HG533 and we recently connected via cable our tv to router for on demand services. I have spent numerous hours on phone to talk talk but they are no help. Is there something we can try ? If we moved to another supplier would we get the same problem are any of them better ? we are in Bow street Mid Wales so maybe dont have a lot of choice who we could switch to ?. Do they all use the same BT line ?
Many thanks for your help

More than likely the WiFi is the problem not the ISP .Wifi does not come down the BT line its comes from your router .
If its a Wifi connection it could be a number of problems within your home .
Suggest first reset your router .
You will then need to work out why your wifi is poor .
Usual reasons are walls neighbours using the same wifi channels as you .
Worth using the TT forums for your problem rather than phone .
Dont suppose you have a spare router you can use to test ??0 -
I couldn't get on the internet with talktalk ...so they sent me new router and it still doesn't work. Their scripted customer service is useless.... can i switch providers without cost? Or by accepting the router have i signed up to new contract...
Should i send it back?0 -
As stated Wi-Fi is nothing to do with your ISP. The first thing to do is check for interference. This is the most likely cause if the problem has only recently started. Use an app on your phone for seeing what wireless channels are being used in your location. Walk around your house and see what happens in every room.
If a neighbour is on the same wireless channel as you or a close one it will cause interference resulting in lower speeds/range. You can change the wireless channel in your router settings to use a clearer part of the spectrum.
Other sources of interference can be baby monitors, TV senders, microwave ovens with poor shielding. The 2.4GHz spectrum that W-Fi uses can be pretty congested at times.
The ISP supplied router could be failing. You can always use your own router instead.0 -

What do you actually mean could not get on ??
On what and by what method .
Does your new router show as connected are all the lights correct .
How is your router connected to your equipment that cannot get on ??0 -
Changing your Wi-Fi channel or even something as simple as a reset will usually resolve 9/10 issues. Google for some diagnostic tools that will show you which wifi channel your neighbours are using and pick a different one. Most will be using either 1, 2, 6, or 11. Although your router should have the auto setting on to change between channels to get the best signal available. You can also dig around your routers' wi-fi settings by typing in 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 but if you are a novice that's probably best left alone or to be done under instructions from talk talk.0

No internet .
How is the router connected to the master socket .
Have you factory reset the router / checked the user details on the router are correct .
Checked / replaced the router to master socket cable .0 -
Two brand new routers havent worked each with their own cables connected to master socket via normal splitter filter. I have heard you can take face plate off to isolate internal wiring their bye confirming its an external wiring or exchange problem. ...talk talk confirmed my user details inputed to router0

this thread is mixing up more than one problem
1. OP - move the router, check wireless is on, check correct wireless passwords and encryption settings are in use. A wireless problem won't be solved by moving isp's, unless you have somehow managed to be using a faulty router, unlikely http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_network_view.html
---
2. DAZ. no sync, complain 0800-0491385
adsl fault diagnosis should be a methodical and very quick process.
logging into any router will tell you the where the problem is, and identify who is responsible
if you can login to the router config page wirelessly, it's nothing to do with your laptop, your operating system, your wireless connection, your wireless channel, or your router. That takes about 10 seconds to test. Do it without the microwave running, that can drown out wireless signals.
Then you look to see if you have a sync in the router config, and see if you have a dial tone, or noise on the line.
If nothing has moved, and nothing has changed, and the phone works in the master socket and extensions, it's incredibly rare for customer wiring to be the issue, and incredibly rare for it to be anything to do with filters, or router, the fishing rod, or anything else in the house. Plug the adsl filter into the master socket, or the test socket inside, check for sync.
That's about 2 minutes effort in total. Customer ahem support will probably take at least an hour, put you on hold 10 times, and promise call backs that never happen, apologise incessantly, and waste even more time posting routers out, before you get this far.
If you've done all this, and still get no sync, go straight to complaints, they'll probably insist on pointlessly sending out someone to check the same tests you've already done, and then prat about asking you for 3 dates when an openreach engineer can turn up. If this happens, do not rely on the reasonable expectation that anyone has actually booked an openreach engineer on any of those dates.
mentioning red lights isn't much help on a forum, there are many routers, many lights, many colours. At a guess, that sounds like no sync.
Putting your original router back on may simplify things.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0
