Are there any welshies here that remember welsh cakes ?
my mum (nan) use to make them for me and cook them on a piece of iron my dad made for her on top of her cooker ring
they were round and flat and had sultanas in them
ive tried a few recipies but they just dont taste the same as the ones mum made

This is a more authentic recipe

    Ingredients

    • 100g / 4 oz mixed butter and lard
    • 225g / 8 oz self raising flour
    • Pinch of salt
    • 75g / 3 oz caster sugar
    • 75g / 3 oz currants
    • ½ tsp mixed spice
    • 1 tsp honey
    • 1 medium egg, beaten
    • Prep Time: 15 minutes
    • Cook Time: 6 minutes

    • Total Time: 21 minutes
    • Yield: Makes about 20 small cakes

    Preparation

    • In a bowl, rub the fats into the flour and salt until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
    • Stir in the sugar, currants, mixed spice and honey.
    • Add the beaten egg and mix to form a firm dough.
    • On a floured board, roll or pat the mixture until about 2cm thick.
    • Cut into 6cm discs and griddle over a medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
    • Dust the Welsh cakes with caster sugar and eat immediately or store in an airtight tin.
Welsh cakes are best eaten while hot but will keep for up to 10 days in an airtight container. You can also serve them with lightly whipped fresh cream and preserves.

I would love to make my own sausages and have bacon in the freezer!

It is a shame my babies grow adults child who eat bacon, like they are breathing air!

My house is definitely a cat free zone :eek::eek:

I think Henlans has managed the apg - gift card transaction.

Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

Been struggling lately as my life has so many restrictions that it sometimes feels hopeless. Any how been racking my brain as to how I can move forward and I've come across a job I'm nearly sure I could do. Would get me out and mixing with people. Only trouble is my cv is obviously not great and the ideal candidate would have food hygiene cert which I don't. If I could get an interview I would stand a better chance I think but that's the hard part. Usually my cv is just discarded. Any tips please ? Tia xx

Take your CV and hand it in in person if at all possible. This could help you stand out from the crowd and get yourself the interview you need. I have done this a few times and feel it is worth a try.
