I hardly dare utter the words for fear of tempting fate but has anyone's order been cancelled for the lay z spa? Mine still says they need more time to tell me a delivery date but I felt sure I would have received a cancellation email yesterday. It will probably hitmy inbox as I press post!!
I have had the dreaded email 2 months after ordering from amazon. (It was sent with a £5 gift card to say sorry, so not all was lost)“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Can't remember how much my first full time working wage packet was but can remember I had to give it all to my mum she said that's what you did in 1974
I still had my Saturday job I had when I was 13 ? and she never took that wage from me

Good morning all, sunny here, have taken a risk and put the washing out

My first job was a sunday job in a garden shop. Used to spend lovely sunny days packing hay, smelt lovely. At the age of 15 I was running the shop on a Sunday
At 16 I also had a Saturday and two evenings job in Waitrose. Really can't recall how much I earned but I do remember all of a sudden I had to buy everything I needed and had to do all my own washing. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
morning lovely people - the rain storm of biblical proportions has not reached here yet - possibly everyone down south had it yesterday.
I have a vast TO DO LIST to write so don't encourage me to linger on here today ...
does anyone have a desperate need for an 8 hole dove cot complete with 12 doves - listed on my Freecycle group this morning :rotfl:“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
My first job was as a papergirl. I loved it as the old boy who owned the shop would take me in his car if it was raining.....I was 12 . Not sure how happy I would be about a 70 yr old taking my DD out in his car to deliver papers but my parents didn't seem to worried.....lol!!
I moved from there to clearing tables and washing dishes at the local caf!. Loved that job....I was 14 and I had the best craic with the old women who worked there. That was on Saturdays and on Sundays I worked in the local newsagents, upstairs in the book department. No one realised it was open so it was very quiet. I read every single Garfield, Snoopy and Asterix & Obelix book ever written :rotfl:. On a Friday night I also worked in the amusement arcade.
I cant remember what my wage was tho it was a pittance but living at home and still at school, it was a huge amount to me. I particularly remember one Christmas having a huge pile of pound notes beside my bed from my 3 Christmas pay packets.
Pity the young ones can find jobs the way we could back then. Happy times!

Would love one but we have a resident sparrowhawk so I don't think they would last long :-(0
