Lloyds & RBS while living abroad: any problems?

Hello,
I'm an EU citizen moving abroad. Will live in Europe indefinitely, but may come back to UK.
I have Lloyds and RBS bank accounts, which I want to keep. There will be some activity in my bank accounts, also I have direct debit going in LLoyds.
Anyone experienced problems with these banks while living abroad?
LLoyds does not allow to change to abroad address so I will keep my last UK address.
RBS allows to change to abroad, but not sure if I should do it. Will it create problems?
Thanks.

Will the UK address that you are keeping for Lloyds remain yours? If not then I'd expect them to close the account if they find out you haven't provided them with a valid address.
If Lloyds won't let you have an overseas address but RBS will then the sensible solution is to transfer your Lloyds business to RBS and just keep the RBS account, having provided them with your valid overseas address.0 -
Best solution is possibly to set your account to statement and correspondence free on your Lloyds account.
Also it might be worth ordering replacements cards before you go just your card expires whilst your away.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
What makes you think you cannot change your address to overseas with Lloyds?
It says you can change your address by visiting branch, calling them or downloading this form here.
There is nothing to suggest you cannot have an overseas address.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Just be better than you were yesterday.0 -
There was a link somewhere on here (sorry can't find it now) about LBG not allowing customers to open new savings account or change existing savings to a new savings product if they hold an overseas address.
This to do with EU cross border policy .
This is quite new policy.0 -

Yes thank you.0 -
The LLoyds address is my partner's property. People from LLoyds confirmed me several times, that you can't change to overseas address and they will not ship a new card overseas. RBS said they are ok with overseas address and card shipment, but I read people's complains that in 2013 they shut lots of "unprofitable" accounts of expat customers without warning. Maybe it was one off..0

They are telling you porkies about the address.
They are probably right about not sending cards out to overseas address.0 -
You can change your address to a overseas one on all LBG accounts but you cant open a new product if you have a overseas address,
cards can be sent to a correspondence address, if needed but as long as you have access to internet banking you can just transfer funds to your RBS account.
Before you go overseas, (unless you have already left) order a replacement card which will have a three year expiry date which will alleviate the issue about a new card....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards.
