Although photos can be deceptive, in that the gap looks larger in the pic. than it actually was.

I'm guessing you don't have my Pizza stomach ;)

EDIT - the cars they usually leave in the Access-way such as their own Volvo 4 x 4 are wider than that white Nissan - and definitely don't leave any room for bins or anyone to get past.
I did not say the bin would go through the gap easily and without collateral damage :rotfl:

So you're advising a bit if criminal damage?

    Quite right, you didn't :)
  • I think the OP doesn't want the neighbour to park there but still wants to park there themselves when it suits. That will simply not work. If you don't want them to park there then no one should park there any time at all.

Put bollards or a fence up. Or even some huge heavy plant pots on your half of the drive.

What I've mentioned in previous posts is that prior to these people, we had an amicable arrangement with all occupiers of next door - when both Households used it for Visitors / Tradesmen only (and not for our own vehicles).

But since these people moved in, they've ensured we cannot use it AT ALL.

I've also mentioned that since they are ensuring we cannot use it, then putting a stop to all parking won't affect us - because for the past 22 months, we haven't been able to use it (even for temporary visitors).

And that therefore if we (or the Council or Highways agency) were to put a bollard up (even if non-retractable) - it wouldn't change our situation of the last 22 months...BUT...

...it would force our Neighbours to have to buy Resident Parking permits all year round - and of course stop them from renting it out as Airport Parking.

Of course, the ideal situation would be for them to stop monopolising the Access-way, and share it on a fair and equal basis - but that's unlikely to happen.

So I actually agree with your final paragraph - just prevent ANY car from parking there.

Still have to go through the Deeds - and won't be putting a Bollard (or fixed-in plants or features) in until we are sure the Authorities are ok with us doing that (on our side only of course).

That interpretation is not quite right

    - we don't mind them parking there OCCASIONALLY - but dumping their car in there for 5 months or 2 months at a time is what we object to.

The same for their visitors - one or two days is fine - but a couple of weeks being rented out as cheap Airport Parking is taking the urine.

And I have had that conversation with the Neighbour - who insisted he be able to park there all year round (and not pay for a Resident Permit) - and then began damaging my Mother's car's front bumper with his Mercedes to enforce his point.

What you need is like I said, a blanket ban on anyone parking there at all e.g no vehicles regardless if it is yours, a visitor or a tradesman. It is not a parking space, it is access to 2 properties and that is all.

But that's not what he wants to hear.

I don't suppose that they're declaring the rental income to HMRC?
