Scottish Economy thriving under Tory policies...

I do agree with some of what you say tbh, but I do also know of people that cant get a job, even one that pays minimum wage
There is almost always work available in London and the South East working as a cleaner or a waiter or pulling pints or as a 'checkout chick' and generally at wages higher than the minimum wage.
Once unemployment gets much below 6 or 7% then really we're talking about people being unwilling to move to find work rather than people not being able to get a job.0 -
See I don't live in London or the South East so my experience is slightly different0

You don't need to go far to find that experience.
Plenty of places in Scotland with extremely low unemployment and a need for workers.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

What are the Scottish Government doing about all the food banks and the unemployment?
Seems a bit odd they've prioritised helping the middle class to go to university but are absolutely powerless to do anything about their starving citizens.0 -
Why not ask them ? I am sure they will give you a reason, maybe not a good one but atleast they should respond
P.S its not just middle classes that go to university, and not all middle classes can afford to send their kids to uni either ... I dont think Nicola Sturgeon could ever be classes as middle class... her uni education certainly helped her land the job she did, Mhari Black is also not middle classed ... so .....0 -

Unemployment is actually pretty low here. It's the quality/contracted hours & low pay of the jobs that's the problem not just in Scotland but UK wide. There is a correlation there with the rise of foodbanks I'm sure you'll agree.
It's a bit odd that you think it is prioritising the middle classes. It's helping the working class, the poor who would otherwise never be able to afford to go to university.0 -

So then you should be applauding Cameron and Osborne's decision to raise minimum wage to £9 per hour by 2020, rather than the mere £8.70 per hour by 2020 that the SNP called for in April of this year.20 April 2015 at 11:31am
SNP would vote to increase the minimum wage to £8.70
The SNP would vote to increase the minimum wage to £8.70 by 2020, leader Nicola Sturgeon said at the party's manifesto launch.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I don't think the SNP were planning to cut tax credits for the three years prior to 2020 however. There are an awful lot of people going to get a huge ( financial ) shock in April next year, when the renewals come round. Mabye a few regrets too over that X in the box.
I've already saw lots of people online saying 'I voted Tory, and when it was rumoured about tax credits.. I didn't think they meant families like ours, we thought they meant for people like on Benefits St'.... :cool:It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

I don't agree actually. Ruggedtoast explained this earlier. Read his post and whilst you're at it maybe you ought to look up the difference between correlation and causation.Leanne1812 wrote: »It's a bit odd that you think it is prioritising the middle classes. What's odd about thinking paying the fees of students who would attend university anyway is anything but a middle class subsidy? With people starving too.0 -

You don't seriously believe people are starving in Scotland do you? I was being ironic.
P.S. it's not all about Nicola.0
