Scottish Economy thriving under Tory policies...

If you'd said "beggars" rather than "buskers" it wouldn't surprise me at all. I know we've had ones caught in Southampton who, at the end of the day, walked round the corner to collect their car and drove home.0

I'd prefer begging to alot of the busking I see. Either way no mulla off me.Left is never right but I always am.0

Of course some of that is the bounce from Scotland voting No to separation, a lot of capital projects that were delayed until the referendum are now being implemented, after getting the go-ahead in the 4th quarter of last year.
It would be even better but unfortunately the SNP has implemented some deeply counterproductive policies that are causing real headwinds to employment in some sectors. (drink driving law changes, Police Scotland mergers, higher education cuts, NHS cuts, etc)
We are now also seeing real skills shortages in some areas, but unfortunately the SNP has prioritised spending money from the block grant on fully maintaining the Spare Room Subsidy for benefits claimants across the whole of Scotland, while slashing higher education spending and the number of college/Uni places.
Absolutely.
Scotland without the rUK subsidy would be Greece without the nice weather.
Exclusively Tory policies which are good.. and all the SNP ones are bad ? R---iii---ght.You didn't read the full article AND the analysis did you.
And I can't believe you're still spouting the old Greece/Scotland mantra. If people were going to believe guff like that the SNP would've been out on their ears long before now. Give it a rest. What, then, of Scotland's growth figures? A rise of 0.6% for January to March is reasonably healthy, given other more negative indicators at the start of the year.
It is slightly ahead of the UK thanks, once again, to the figures showing construction in Scotland has been out-growing that of the UK more widely.
Construction output is up 21% compared with the start of 2014, whereas it was up only 4.5% in the UK figures.
That may be partly explained by the big projects currently under way, many of them funded by the Scottish government; the Border railway, the Forth Replacement Crossing, the M8 upgrade in Lanarkshire. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Just part of the huge subsidies kindly provided by the Conservative govt.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

 Hamish! You should be ASHAMED! 1.8% and 0.8% are not numbers..:D

The Scots pay taxes to the Conservative govt too.
But anyway, Hamish proclaimed it was all down to Tory 'policies'. Which is obviously not the case, since the construction figs ( for example ) are solely down to Scottish (devolved ) Government decisions, policies and funding. And nothing to do with Tory policies. But you delude yourself all you like if it makes you feel better. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

It really wasn't, as busking isn't the act of "stating one is homeless either to the police or the general public".If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -

I know plenty of people that don't ... incidentally I do also know plenty of people that do, but wont assume that because a person needs to use a food bank they drink Buckie0 -

Work is good for society and for those who do it. People need incentives.
IMO benefits are more than generous enough that if you are queueing at a food bank it's because youve wasted money on other stuff.
How much in government hangouts is spent each year on booze, days, drugs, sky tv, holidays, takeaways, fizzy drinks, McDonads? Once I see that stop happening I'll feel sympathy for those on benefits.
The snp / socialist approach would be to make it easier for people on benefits, keep them poor so they keep voting snp and for society as a whole to be worse off
I do agree with some of what you say tbh, but I do also know of people that cant get a job, even one that pays minimum wage0
