Context? I should also add that for a country that supposedly embraces "cycling for the masses" the Netherlands has higher motor vehicle ownership per capita than the UK.

So people who cycle own cars :eek
    What a crazy idea.

A death figure on its own means nothing. so let me have look since you just want to work on a headline.

    Lets take 2013.

    https://bicycledutch.wordpress.com/2014/04/25/traffic-fatalities-decreased-significantly-in-2013/

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/annual-road-fatalities

UK road deaths from accidents: 1713
    Dutch: 570

    Cyclists
    UK: 109
    Dutch:184

    Motorbikes
    UK: 331
    Dutch: 29

    Car:
    UK: 785
    Dutch: 193

    Pedestrians
    UK: 398
    Dutch: 56

    UK population 2013: 64 Million
    Dutch 2013: 16.8 Million

So seems cyclists are dropping like flies? However the figure estimated to be travelled by bike is 14.8 billion KM.
    Absorb that number.

    Found an interesting 2011 stat
    Vehicle miles
In 2011, 3.1 billion vehicle miles were travelled on pedal cycle (bicycle); 11.6 billion fewer
than in 1949 (14.7 billion vehicle miles).
    1

3.1 billion (just under 5 billion KM)with our far larger population.
In 2012 there were 38 deaths per billion miles cycled in Britain - the fourth lowest year on record - but in the Netherlands the number was almost half that, at just 22. The Netherlands is well-known for spending more on cyclists.

So a figure on its own means nothing.

Of course there is little point trying to debate the subject with you as you are well known for you're vehemently anti-cycling stance.

Not sure where you get that idea from. Just because one isn't pro something doesn't make them anti. I just like to provide a little balance to the more outlandish views of the more militant cycling advocates.

So as a cycling proponent you won't have a problem if more of your fellow cyclists end up dead because of increased participation and distance travelled?

    John,John,John.
Lets not digress. You made the statement.
If we could rack up cycling miles to the equivalent of the Dutch then the healthier populous would outweigh any losses.
However to be clear. 1 is too many

I use my bike 60% of the time for my commute. I don't see the point of cyclist having cameras, 95% of motorists are fine, and the other 5% drive like idiots and would annoy me regardless of if I'm on my bike or car.

I've been knocked off my bike by drivers not paying attention twice in 15 years+ of cycling. So I know how close so motorists get to cyclists.

The two people in the video are both idiots, and need to take a chill pill. Billions of people around the world struggle to feed them selves, and these two want to have a fight/argument for no reason :(

and if only I could message the driver in the opening video.
This is why cyclists 'take up so much room'
