My friend used this the other week. She marinated it first to give it flavour otherwise she said it would be tasteless, she used it in a curry I think and said she could not tell that it wasn't chicken!

    Hi :)

I've just moved you to an older thread which may help, and perhaps you'd like to look at some of these:-

    Hi there!

I bought some tofu on offer in Morrisons for 50p, I've used one pack in a stir fry, but am looking for some alternative uses for it. This is plain tofu, so any ideas for extra ways of flavouring it would be appreciated as well!

Yes I did buy it cos it was cheap ;) but also cos my friend used to use it in curry and it was always delicious then!

Anyway I thought that there must be other uses for it, I've had a look on the vegan thread and seen a quiche idea, blending the tofu and using it instead of eggs and that sounded nice. I just wondered how else I could use it?

    Thanks everyone :D

When I get a minute I'll send you my recipe for tofu loaf - made in a 2lb loaf tin, served hot in slices with gravy - most scrumpdiddylicious and easy to make. As you say, quiches are also good.

It's great in stirfries and curries and can be scrambled on toast. I also have an entire cookbook of tofu recipes so could lend that to you.

You can scramble it like eggs. or make a cheesecake with it, also use it in quiches, as you said, or as an egg replacer in cakes, ect..

I cut it into strips and soak in soy or tamari. Then I fry it until crispy...You can then use it in various other dishes or make tofu BLT's :-)

    Hi mummysaver,

There are lots of ideas on this earlier thread that may help:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

  • I use tofu in fajitas instead of chicken. Mmmmm, yummy and you can hardly tell the difference from chicken!
