Stirfry is the traditional way to cook tofu in its place of origin, the Far East.
Funny enough I'm cooking some at this very moment in this way:
I have sauteed some garlic in olive oil, then added a bit of water and a teaspoon of Marmite. Added more water and added half a cup of wholegrain basmati rice.
When the rice is almost cooked I shall add diced tofu and let it cook to the end.
I shall have this with some freshly boiled broccoli.
Simple, homely and healthy.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
The tofu you are talking about just needs to be heated through in your stir fry, its really nice and already flavoured.....it also freezes well.0

Aimme, I have never frozen tofu...can you freeze any kind as I am the only one who eats it here (except when DDIL and Dgd2 are here) and it would be convenient to freeze it just for me
Thanks,

Tofu can be frozen. It gets a completely different texture afterwards when you thaw it out and squeeze out the excess liquid - it has a look reminiscent of cooked chicken (from what I remember).
Tofu can be used for so many things - 'cheesecake' is delicious!0 -
I LOVE tofu because many people don't realize how versatile it is. you can easily sub tofu for any kind of meat.
Here's a yummy recipe for Tofu Asian Wraps I like to make that's healthy and easy: http://www.savvymiss.com/recipes/main-dishes/main-dishes-archive/article/wrapsody-209/news-browse/1.html0 -
Since I had to make tofu for my veggie DD 20 years ago (you couldn't buy it then) . I have tried it and thought the texture was revolting .The taste , none. Maybe the marinated stuff is a great improvement. Where do you get it and I am willing to give it a chance?Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

That’s a bit like accusing rice of not having much taste. It’s what you put with it. The marinated stuff is usually right next to the unmarinated, in the supermarket chilled section. Don’t buy long-life tofu. That does have a poor texture. You can marinate it yourself. Cut it into chunks. Leave it sitting in soy source for half an hour, or an hour, turning occasionally. Add some chilly powder, if you want something real “strength”. Then fry it.
As well as Quasar’s what-sounds-like-steaming, you can just boil it. It turns up in Japanese soup/stews.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0
