Sorry Rambosmum, that is a little naive of you. When spammers are fishing for numbers or email addresses, they rarely use the number they fished from to do their spamming. In fact, they rarely spam from the same number twice.bagpussbear wrote: »0 -
This thread tickles me as I always remember the Xmas when my drunken nephew texted me instead of his girl friend. I was sat right next to him and just showed it to him after I read it and said 'really?'
I tend to ignore them unless I get more than one.Don’t put it down - put it away!

I once got a random text which was full of abuse and accusing me of "calling the Social" about something. I just ignored it.
I got phonecalls a few days later from the same number, and as they kept ringing I eventually answered and told the woman they had the wrong number, at which point they immediately hung up, and I never heard anything again.
I kind of suspect that maybe the person who the text was meant to be for, had deliberately given out a random number...which happened to be mine.0 -
One of my exes had a distasteful habit of sending texts about how horny he was and pleading for rude photos when he was away and drunk. Was one of the (many) reasons I decided I'd had enough of him, especially when he'd moan about me not replying to them. (Why didn't I reply to you? Because they were revolting and there was no way on earth I was going to entertain the idea? And perhaps because it's slightly more emotionally fulfilling to get a text saying you love me and miss me, rather than you want to see a photo of
?)
I didn't think much about it when he stopped doing it, hoping he'd finally got the idea. Until he went on a self pitying whingefest about how I never thought of his feelings or needs.
Turned out the drunken moron hadnt stopped sending the texts, he'd just been sending them to the poor cow with a similar name to mine and was next on his contacts list. And she definitely wasn't into him at all, but didnt want to embarrass him by letting him know they were going to her in error - or didnt want to risk finding out that he was deliberately doing it.
I wasn't feeling so tactful. I made sure he knew how stupid and offensive he had been to both her and myself.
Yes, I dumped him shortly afterwards.
Just delete the text.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll
