  • Thanks CCL :) I think she'll like it — she has a toddler and works part time, so she could do with some pampering!

I received a £4 Amazon voucher this evening, so my total balance is now £18.18 :D Will soon be able to get my next batch of gifts, which will include a couple of add-on items, because a £10 voucher is due sometime. I'm also within 200SB of another £5 voucher, thanks to completing a few surveys today. I will feel more in control as I get more presents sorted.

    Hi ABA

Just catching up on your diary. Well done on buying so many gifts with your boots points. I think putting 'Go to the loo' on your list is fantastic. Aim high! Not literally in that case ;) At least you know you'd tick it off.
On a serious note sorry you are feeling more anxious again. But good your doctor seems responsive to that.

Hope your having a good weekend?

    Bob

  • Thanks Bob :) I received my £5 Amazon voucher from SB today, so ordered some presents:
    • Chocolate brazil nuts for my dad's birthday (his favourite)
    • A tub of body lotion to add to my BFF's birthday present, plus a basket to put it all in
    • Books for 2 of my friends' daughters Xmas presents
    • Snakes and ladders to add to the word game I already bought for my friends' little girl
    • A biscuit tin which I will fill for my grandparents' Xmas present

    New Amazon balance: £1.67

    Next present priorities:
    • Something for friends' yet-to-be-born baby
    • Biscuit barrel for my friend (eyed up one with a cute cupcake design!)
    • Retro sweet hamper for my brother
    • Selfie kit for another friend (kind of tongue in cheek, but she does take a lot!)

This weekend has been otherwise quiet, but nice. My mum was sorting out the cupboard under the stairs yesterday and discovered we have enough wine to open a bar, so we shared a lovely bottle of rosé last night. I made some tiffin as part of a bid to make stuff my brother likes to eat (i.e. Without nuts) so that he lets me off the £3 I owe him for chips last Sunday — will probably make brownies and a fruit cake sometime today as well.

I struggled to hit my SB daily goal yesterday, but was determined to keep my winning streak, so watched loads of mind-numbing SBTV. Will probably have to do the same again today!

Baking is such a relaxing activity isn't it and fresh cake is so good :)

  • I wish I was better at baking. I am fine with cooking and chucking a bit of whatever I've got in a pan and hoping for the best, but baking is a much finer art than that. It's much more like chemistry in that you have to have the right stuff, in the right quantities, mixed in the right way etc. I'm a bit clumsy and things go a bit wrong quite often. I always end up with mega dense cakes, or really dry, or they don't rise. ABA, feel free to make me anything with nuts... ;)
  • Thanks guys :) and, um, CCL — aren't you a science teacher?! Lol! I have many years of baking disasters behind me... Thankfully yesterday didn't add to them :D

Today is SO day, so s little more of the loan has been chipped away. It is also ESA day and I realised that there are another 2 ESA days before my next SO day, so I could add £100 to my EF :j

Feeling much happier and more in control as a result of this. I have been up for an hour and it's already turned out to be a weird day: my dog freaked out when the recycling men came (I was still in bed) abd broke my mirror, which was leaning against the wall  but then I got an email to say the short story I submitted a few weeks ago had passed the first round of reading and will now progress to the full editorial board :j fingers crossed that it gets accepted!

  • Forgot to add: I also paid off my CC, which had most of the cost of Publisher on it (£80) :)

I am indeed. A chemistry teacher in fact. I have made a perfectly plausible career out of having an excellent brain but barely any practical skills. The kids love it when I do a demo because they always want to know what's going to go wrong...
