Libel is when you write something which is not true. Please point to that which I have written which is a lie.
Wrong.
To quote the Law Society
Libel is a method of defamation expressed by print, writing, pictures, signs, effigies, or any communication embodied in physical form that is injurious to a person's reputation, exposes a person to public hatred, contempt or ridicule, or injures a person in his/her business or profession.
You described them as a ‘A complete bunch of cowboys’ and throughout these threads you have been very aggressive and unreasonable.
The error that they made was their failure to understand what the job was. Once they understood they advised you that they could not do the work required. They did not charge you, they offered some sort of minor compensation and yet you describe them in a demeaning and unreasonable fashion.
My sympathy is entirely with Able, I do think that your attitude and approach suggests that you have made at least one libellous statement. The fact that others may have genuine issues with the service provided by Able does not support your very flimsy argument.0 -
The error that they made was their failure to understand what the job was.
My first question to them was "Do you repair tilt and turn windows?"
How could they not understand that?
The fact that others may have genuine issues (with) the service provided by Able does not support your very flimsy argument.
I am satisfied that it does, but I question the word "flimsy".You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I particularly like this post on Grumpieroldmen:If you were a working man, running a business I would understand your actions, but you are retired. You do s*d all with your time, apart from moaning about every trades person you come across.
I have every sympathy with the company and none what so ever for your own stupidity. Will you never learn to use traders that are recommended by people you know. Why go to a big company for a minor repair, most of the nationwide companies farm out the work to anyone who will do them a call.
I guess nobody will recommend anyone to you as they know you are a tight a**ed old b**ger who will try to get compo for the slightest thing. As a landlord you should know better. Once you find a good trades person, treat them well and use them again. Surely this is not the first window you have had a problem with in your property empire. I bet every tradesman you phone for a second job says they are too busy, who can blame them, you are not worth the aggro.0 -
I hope the posters on this thread are aware TheDeep is preparing a case against you for wasting his valuable time and / or not agreeing with him.
I trust you all have the deep pockets0 -
A lot of assumptions there novice, very judgemental, but you do not know me, so you assumptions lack validity.
Anyone thinking that the CAB offers vfm needs their bumps read, the last time I used them the lady to whom I spoke was almost entirely ignorant of the Property Misdescriptions Act, (now repealed) nor UTCCC, and they give appalling advice to people who have been targeted by predatory private parking companies.
They may be good at debt counselling, how to beat an eviction order, and obtaining DLA, but I have no need of these services.
The fact that so many think that I do not have a case leads me to think that I do. There has been so much false assumption, failure to understand the OP, and misinformation that, frankly, I am appalled.
And for those who think that I came here for advice, I did not. I came here to warn others of my experience of poor customer service, nothing more, nothing less.
Yes, this is a money saving board and I like to think that my contributions on the parking board have saved a few people a few bob.
Clearly few who have so willingly offered unsolicited advice have been inside a County Court, I have five wins to my name.
I rest my caseYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Go for it then!
I hope and expect that you will lose!0 -
predatory private parking companies.I am a professional landlord.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Anyway, I just last week had the Able group in for some electrical work. I have a copy of their terms and they mention nothing about compensation. In fact they are quite detailed on the point of not paying for made up losses. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. And most people here can see that Able acted reasonably. So they got it wrong that they could fix your windows - to err is to human. They made you a reasonable offer as an apology which appears to be good customer service.
You need to find a better way to spend your retirement than getting annoyed at minor things like this, it will put you in an early graveThinking critically since 1996....0 -
Had Able not initially offered to do the work, you would still have had to spend the additional time finding the alternative providers. As a professional landlord the time involved in finding repairers is your responsibility. That, in addition to the fact I can't see where the contract was formed (ie there was no consideration) means I suspect you'll find the court rules against you on this occasion.
Of course a professional landlord should have legal advice available to them.
It's early, I've just remembered the kids are on their school holidays!0 -
I'm wondering how many hours the OP has spent reading posts on this forum (and others) that he takes exception to and then responding...
Do we all need to compensate him for our inability to understand the serious wrong that he has suffered here? If it helps, reading this thread was worth a pound of my money in entertainment value!0
