Hi, I have five Polly Pockets sets to return. They are all brand new (I bought them for gifts). I have been in contact with Matell who have sent me a catalogue to choose replacements from. However the choice of toys is quite limited, some of the toys are now old stock and you can pick them up much cheaper. Shouldn't Matell refund my money?

    Any advice gratefully received.

The catalougue arrived this morning for us- my DD has £42.98 worth of affected Polly Pocket stuff to go back, but the stuff she wants comes to over or under the price- should I put in a cheque for the difference if we choose to go overbudget? Will they accept it?

Boots are now refunding the whole value onto a gift card if you don't have a receipt. It comes up as recalled item, even if you paid sale price it goes through as full price!

I think Boots have had lots trying this, I had a letter from them this morning saying that their records showed I had purchased a recalled item and to return it to my nearest store. I thought this might be easier than waiting for mattel so I took the snow hotel to return it. At the shop the SA said the manager had said they are only allowing a £5 credit if you don't have the receipt, I said I'd speak to the manager as they had obviously got details of my purchase because they'd sent the letter. The manager refunded the item in full £29.99 but I don't think they would have without the letter.

Has anyone tried to take anything back to Argos or Tesco's. I have a
Pollyworld set that was a present bought from Tesco (no receipt), also a Snow Cool Hotel set that was from Argos.

PS I phoned Mattell a week ago and I still haven't heard from them!

Take the snow cool hotel to sainsburys no receipt needed and 25 cash there and then
  • I have the Polly Pocket Pollyworld Dress N Drive Lounge Playset which retails at £19.99 and also 2 x Pollyworld Gift Shop (Lila) Playsets which retail at £9.99, still boxed as I was going to give them as Christmas presents!

I have received the list from Mattel and there isn't anything on there that the kids want. What can I do?
  • I also received a letter from Boots about how i had purchased goods that were on a recall.

Took the Polly toy back to Boots and had excellent service! Showed her my letter and she asked me how much i had paid for it and asked if i wanted to pick something off the shelf for the same value, i said "nah, i'll have a look later in the year" She then gave me a full CASH refund even though i ddnt have my receipt.

I thought the law was that if you had FAULTY goods but no receipt then they had to give you a cash refund.

Has anyone returned a quick clic style house anywhere (the big one where she goes down the tube and the clothes snap on) I bought it from tesco and it is on the recall list but tesco couldn't find a code to refund it on?
  • Does anyone know how much Tanner (Barbie & dog) cost? My DD got it for Xmas as gift. The list arrived from Mattel but, the price wasn't advised?

I was told for each item you purchased you could choose ANY item to replace it.

I returned a jewellary marker for £7.99 and swapped it for the Dora talking kitchen for £79!

I phoned them up to check this was ok and was told you could choose anything you wanted.
