What a blooming pain. I honestly don't think anything to do with house sales is plain sailing though there always seems to be something. So sorry though when all seemed to be going so well.

    Thanks both :)

Bob I agree, the waiting for a buyer and waiting to exchange threads are petrifying!

I hope so Kitten :) keeping everything crossed! Just need to get everything sorted ASAP with the buyer so we can crack on and get moved in. I'm staying positive for now, as much as I can.

OH is poorly. Not sure what is wrong, he has damaged his shoulder but also keeps having uncontrollable shakes and feeling dizzy so doc is sending him for blood tests and has given him some medication for vertigo to try and help the dizzy spells. Hope nothing too bad. Last time he had these shakes was when he had glandular fever so am slightly worried :(

    Hi Kirsty,

I can't make out if your buyer is just being awkward and asking for the damp survey herself, but I know that when I bought my house after I got the normal survey done the mortgage company *insisted* that I get one...and a lot of other surveys ,,,done. No option.

Play hardball with this one - remember that she has invested money for surveys etc. so far so she is actually going to lose as well. Is the prepared to lose £x invested just cos she's being difficult?

I've been in Liverpool with family for a few days, which I'd really been looking forward to. I love spending time with my grandparents and I even managed a catch up with my biological father (first time in 7 years!) on Saturday which was all very nice, but come 4am on Sunday morning I ended up throwing up pretty much continuously for 14 hours :( Not a happy bunny - the plan was that OH was going to Anfield with my grandad, uncle and cousin to watch the 4 nations final (NZ V Aus so he was excited) while I went to Liverpool One with my Nan and Aunt....well they all got to go but I stayed in bed at my grandparents feeling very sorry for myself.

Started to feel a bit brighter after they got back at about 8pm so we jumped in the car and headed home (slept most of the way) then was starving so had food which promptly came back up and went to bed...not the ideal weekend!

OH woke up feeling awful but he is the only one in branch this week as his only remaining colleague is on holiday....they have gone from 15 staff to 4 and wonder why they are struggling. At least he doesn't seem to have caught my sickness, he's just still shaky and fluey.

In other news, it's payday today and I managed some ebay sales over the weekend which I would LOVE to pay off CCs but I am trying to do minimum payments only this month until we know more about what is going on with the house.

PB I wouldn't have had an issue if it was the mortgage company but she brought her mortgage offer round and they have offered the mortgage for the full amount with a line in about due to age of property damp survey is recommended. To be honest I don't have a problem with it anyway, I'd want it checking out too, but I wouldn't expect the vendor to pay nor would I expect a cost reduction just because I didn't want to fork out for the survey....fingers crossed the turnaround is quick anyway:)

Survey being done this afternoon and we have booked our own for tomorrow AM as I'm still convinced that having a survey by a company who installs damp proof courses is a conflict of interest...particularly when the amount she is paying for the survey is redeemable off any works they recommend!

I sound very grumpy today, apologies all - I think it's because I still feel a bit rough and am knackered! Will be cheerier soon :)

Sorry about your sickness bug too and hope you and OH are on the mend. I must admit I love Liverpool, only a short train journey for me so I'm sorry you missed that too.

Will be interesting to see the difference in the surveys. Hope they come back good.

Thanks all :) I'm feeling brighter today, just absolutely shattered!

Buyers survey was done today so I asked if there was anything he could tell me about turnaround time - he told me that he can't tell me about his report as I'm not paying for it. Fair enough. Then he said but if she tries to renegotiate, ask to see the report and winked so I'm feeling a bit happier about it all at the moment. Time will tell!

I was gutted about missing time with my Nan and Grandad, although OH had a lovely time with 'the boys' which was nice to hear. They are coming to stay with my parents for Christmas so I'll get to spend time with them then, and hopefully in the new house!

I'm a bit torn about the time I spent with the bio father. I always feel like I'm betraying my Dad, even though he has never made me feel like that. It takes me a while to get my head round it so I am struggling a bit today.
