We do have part of his name sorted Abba - will PM you :)

Recovery continues! We had to take a trip to the hospital yesterday for donut to have a blood test as he has been quite jaundiced and it isn't getting any better. Whilst we were out we nipped to boots for some maternity pads, toothpaste for OH and a few bits for donut. Had a phone call to say his bilirubin levels were 259 which was 100 under the threshold for hospitalisation so that was a relief. Lots of time in the window for my little man :D

So yesterday was our first trip out and it was lovely - bought him a little hat from Next too while we were out. Luckily I had a voucher from my boss for Boots which covered everything we bought and still has a nice amount leftover, and I had set up a little 'once he is born' fund so we could do things like buy something for him if we saw it and liked it, or to go out for a meal or 2 so we went to pizza hut on the way back - expensive but I had been craving pizza hut since before Christmas and couldn't have it with the GD. Bit of a letdown though - food was nice enough but we shared a cookie dough ice cream and it tasted salty! OH couldn't taste salt and my sister said her tastes were completely different for 6 weeks after the niece was born so hoping it will go back to normal soon :)

My grandparents have come down to visit and spent a few hours with us on Saturday, plus are coming back for a few hours this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon before heading back home on Wednesday. We have booked the appointment to register him on Wednesday so we really need to agree on his full name ASAP :o
They have given us a cheque for £500 to put into his bank account so he has what I have been saving, plus that nice little chunk of money - hopefully he will be sensible with it when the time comes but all I can do is try and teach him as best I can, the rest is up to him!

Our microwave went bang on Friday, not helpful for the microwave sterilising unit (only for dummies luckily, we do have an electric one for everything else) so that wasn't exactly budgeted but I had a 20% off voucher from Very so ordered a new one which is due to arrive tomorrow. It was really strange, there had been loads of condensation inside when we used it for the last week but put it down to steriliser, then heard a bang and it won't work plus the glass plate inside has broken in 2 - no idea how!!

Anyway, time for me to go and have some more cuddles  xx

You sound like you are getting on well. My granddaughter was born at 37 weeks and a bit jaundiced so had to go under a special light for a day or so. I think it is very common with preterm babies although I know technically 37 weeks is term.

Re the money for donut. My DD and son in law opened a JISA for our DGD when she was born and we both put money in monthly. I think the other grandparents do too. This means by the time she is 18 there will be a lot there. I know my DD is concerned she does not have access to huge sums of money at 18 but I pointed out we gave her a large lump sum before uni and she still had it and more afterwards. She is a saver not a spender so hopefully DGD will be the same. All you can do is teach your son the value of money and exercise caution in his teens when he gets access to his money.

We saw a gorgeous 2 week old new born at soft play this morning with DGD. She is becoming more aware of babies now. DD told us this morning that DGD old bedroom is now back to nursery with cot up so DGD put her doll in her cot and sung twinkle twinkle all the way through then said go to sleep :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Exactly what we do with her. :)

Enjoy your new born cuddles. We can't wait for our new addition to arrive. Less than 7 weeks until 39 weeks when DD will get ECS.

Thanks for all the messages - I have been reading but have been pretty rubbish about catching up... Well who knew something so tiny could take up so much time :o in all fairness most of the time he takes up is because I want to hold him constantly and not put him down, rather than him actually needing me :o

Have been struggling a bit with recovery - self inflicted issues I think though - I weighed myself and am 12kg lighter than before I got pregnant so I tried on some jeans that I have't been able to wear in 2 years - they fitted so I insisted on wearing them out for a meal. Let's just say that a third degree tear and tight jeans do NOT go well 6 days after birth :( Got our 10 day midwife appt this afternoon so will be asking them to check I haven't done any damage to the repair. What an eejit (insert eye roll emoji!)

Lactation consultant next week to discuss his tongue tie and see if we can get back to fully breastfeeding so wish me luck - using a pump all the time makes me feel like a cow!

Nothing much going on money wise, my work have confused everything by paying me a full month this month and intend to recoup the excess next month which will leave me with very little. Extremely annoying and has messed with my spreadsheets

We are all on countdown to my new niece ES, so I can imagine it is the same in your household! It will be here before we all know it :D

Right my little man has just made a noise so obviously wants me to hold him.... that's my story and I'm sticking to it :rotfl: xx

Ouch Kirsty that doesn't sound good, I had an episiotomy & the stitches from that were sore enough. Fingers crossed there's no further damage.

How stupid of work to mess up your pay.

Perfectly normal to want to hold your DS all the time. The hormones made me crazy & possessive over my DS. :rotfl:

Tight jeans 6 days after giving birth. Ouchie!!:eek::eek:

Seriously well done for getting back to pre pregnancy weight so quickly but maybe give it a bit longer in loose clothes to give your body time to recover properly. You sound like all is going well with your little man.

Maybe take the extra out of this months pay and put it in a savings account until next month so you don't end up short then.

That's the Kirsty we know and love...not just fitting back into her jeans straight away, but also defending her spreadsheets like she would her newborn child! :rotfl:

I'd be more worried if it were the other way round at this point. Enjoy! Give him an extra snuggle for me! :T
