Thanks all :) I'm starting to really look forward to the trip, Although it was more for OH to see his parents, sister and friends plus the V8s trip, I'm very excited about all of the above too!

Had some friends over last night with their baby and they stayed the night - was lovely to spend time together. We watched eurovision with a couple of bottles of tesco 3 for £12 prosecco and I made fajitas....quite MSE :)

I had been to a local kids fair in Shrewsbury during the day with my mom, sister and niece. My mom paid for the entry for us all (£2 per adult) and for our lunch in there which was a nice surprise. It was billed as a kids fair but the amount of alcohol stands around was quite surprising! Luckily I was driving as they were doing lots of free testers which I'd probably have partaken in otherwise :o Did treat OH and myself to some gourmet brownies. Mine was mint aero and his was nutella and oreo. They were £2 each but oh my god, worth every penny - although I think I put 2lb on just looking at it :rotfl:

There was also a crystals stand there and I had a good chat with the stallholder. Came away with 3 stones - 2 for fertility and 1 for letting go of negativity. Also got a keyring with haematite and some other charms which apparently help with fertility. Everything is worth a try!

Thank you all! The new tablets I'm on are wreaking havoc at the moment, feel constantly sick and tired but they aren't quit doing their job yet. I'm on week 3 of them and apparently it takes 3 weeks to get used to them so I am hoping I feel better next week :)

Monz we booked the flights direct through emirates as I had a voucher code for 5% off. We could have done part of the trip cheaper using china southern but they don't do all the legs we needed and because of that overall it was more expensive. Emirates and Qantas are brilliant anyway so I would always suggest trying to use those if possible :)
Visa-wise we got the e visa for Australia, and don't need one for NZ.
    Have you been before?

Never been before. Wanting to book 2 weeks in Gold Coast. ~My son is obsessed with sea life and that. New Zealand will be a week and staying with our cousins who live there :) xx

Thanks es I've got a lovely little account set up named dreams :o which is slowly growing and my parents have done the same as they would like to pay for the pram like they did for my sister.

Monz I can't wait for the gold coast - it looks amazing!

Will you be on North or South Island in NZ? I'm yet to do the South Island and won't get there this time either so it's definitely on my list for a few years time.

I'm counting down to payday so I can do the usual money shuffle but this time it won't be to numerous CCs - it will just be to OHs one and then the various savings pots. They currently consist of:
    Emergency Fund - £2000
    Joint Savings - £730
    NZ fund - £865
    Presents fund £450
    Eating out/entertainment - £100

I think we are doing pretty well at the moment. I could divert EF savings to OHs CC now but I really don't want to. It's 0% so I don't see the point in paying that off and leaving us with little left in savings :)

I got very excited over the weekend when I realised that the interest had been added to the mortgage so I made a £201  OP to bring it down to exactly £164000. Still absolutely massive but I'm so happy that I have the funds to be able to make my OCD tendencies happy by rounding down to the nearest thousand rather than the pennies I was doing at the start of the year. They all make a difference but I'm hoping to have made a dent before we have a little one so that I'm not overstretched trying to OP on mat leave.

That's the north island :) We roadtripped there last time (OHs parents live an hour south of Auckland) and it took us about 6 and a half hours....as if the mammoth flight isn't enough travelling :rotfl:

There's a wonderful museum there called Te Papa which I would go to a few times this time around too if I could - brilliant, definitely worth a visit! Lots to see for little ones too so I'm sure your little man would love it!
We won't be venturing that far this time - spending a few days in Auckland and a few days in Rotorua is the extent of our travelling :)

I wish I meant running in that sense Bob :o it's more of a read and run in relation to the forum - I read all the updates and then run off to bed :rotfl:

Just had a lovely catch up with my nan, they are giving us their old bed frame and mattress from their spare room as they have moved their old bed into the spare room and had a new one for themselves (which is quite high and my nan is having to have a step made to be able to climb in :rotfl:)

My parents have booked a trip to Morocco for us all next April (them, us, my sister, brother in law and niece) exciting but another thing to save for... And resting heavily on neither myself or my sister getting pregnant in the meantime!

Oh sorry! What a pudding! Morocco will be fab.:T

And also good luck on getting pregnant asap!

Had a huge monies discussion with OH last night. We are on somewhat different pages with certain things and I felt like it needed airing.

We will be moving towards a joint accounts system for all monies except personal spends from July onwards. He has quite a strange way of thinking about things, and although he wants to op the mortgage and have more savings, he begrudges actually paying the money into those things....not sure how he figured they were going to happen without money but hey ho!

The deal is going to be all monies into one account, all bills/his CC payments/savings etc being transferred to appropriate accounts and whatever is left split equally between us. I will be saving most of mine for the future or OPing the mortgage where possible and what he does with his is his choice (although if it doesn't involve a ring in the next 12 months I might banish him to the garage forevermore :rotfl:)

I showed him my potential mat leave spreadsheet so he was more aware of just how reduced our income would be and I think it made more sense to him than me just harping on about how we need to keep outgoings to a minimum just in case.

MIL had her final chemo on Tuesday so we are just waiting for her next appointment to hear about radiotherapy. Fingers crossed :D
