I have tried it on my (sim-free) SE K800i on Tesco PAYG. I have downloaded it and installed it all fine, but I also have the problem with getting it to work. I have checked the PIN and it is not displayed. I have tried to change it but because this involves communicating with the web servers again it fails.

I have installed numerous other apps which access the internet on the phone and can use them successfully. So it appears that Tesco (or O2) are somehow blocking this.

Wouldn't it be great if MSE could build a head of steam and force OFCOM to wake up on text and data rip offs especially data? The next thing you can expect from them otherwise will be just as useless as their latest lily-livered enforcement on roaming charges.

Being a bit of a techno gadget nut in the nineties, I think I was connecting my mobile via Third Party ISDN numbers like Breathe as early as 1998 That was to send my emails from the train. The charges were by the second just like call charges and those calls were no more than abt 15 secs for huge emails (including the ultrafast login-handshake on ISDN) AND they came out of my bundled minutes!

Then some of those numbers got outlawed I think, or pressure put on to withdraw the service so we were stuck with the much slower handshake via WAP (at least 45 seconds then before your email even started to get sent). Not satisfied with that, I understand that recent customers now don't even get that choice ... instead as we've heard, data is charged at these horrendous arbitrarily set "per MB" rates, and now we hear we can expect "per day" rates.

The people who dream up ever more dastardly schemes to fleece us through mobile telecoms have even more contempt for their customers than the competitions' ideas-men in the Nat West adverts. They truly deserve oblivion in return. Before then, I'd just love to see MSE knock them off their perch like MSE indeed did do to the banks with their spurious charges!

I just downloaded Vyke to my Nokia 6300 o2 pay as you go phone.

However, when I go to send a text it says "You are not subscribed to o2 data packet"

What does this mean? I can use wap without any problems but I cannot send texts via Vyke because of this data packet problem. Anyone experienced this?
  • I have installed successfully on a Nokia N73 on Tmobile. The app stays connected but if I try and send a text after being connected for more than a few minutes it just hangs on the sending page. If I disconnect, and reconnect the text sends fine straight away. Does anyone know what settings I need to adjust to fix this?

You need to register for an on-line account and then you can send your 30 free texts.
