Nsd. Was really tempted to go ys shopping, but somehow managed to resist. Really pleased with how I'm doing this month. Thought I'd have been able to use up loads of food while the ch have been away, but I don't really eat very much in one go, so the progress is slow!

I'm declaring my GC for August as my cc statement has been issued £203.15/£200 :j very please with this as it is the first time I have been able to track my spends for the whole month! And I managed to stay as near as damn it to the amount we could afford :T
Well done for your first month. You will probably find it easier as you go along now :D

Mr T had £ 10.92 of my money today - mainly stock cupboard and large pot bio yoghurt. Still on course for the month atm

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday

Thank you Dennis and Lynne for your encouragement and advice. Denise i think i will for the next two months do as suggested as money is not great. if things work out ill hopefully be able to join the october challenge from the1st of that month.

So today is my first day and i originally planned to spend £80-£100 online but i think im going to try and do much less at £60 and stick to doing little shops where the offers take me!

I dont want to overlap the thread but i have had a very exciting day yesterday by trying out some couponing!
I did three small shops at three different shops...total should have been £26 and i paid £6.11 :j
I really feel that this could help me keep to budget if not allow me to be under,,time will tell ....but for now i have this buzz!
i wont mention coupons again as im not sure on rules:o

No problem at all mentioning coupons. If I use one I often say I've spent X and use a £y MOC! Nobody minds how you record your spends. The important thing is that it helps you to see how you're doing against your budget.

It's also good to encourage others to stick to theirs and perhaps even pick up tips to help you save even more money.

It's going to be another NSD for me today so will be up to 12/20 - definitely not going to be making it to 20 this month as I'm off on holiday end of next week. I'll not do the September GC as I'm away for most of the month.

    Morning all,

I know that I am late for August, but I would like to join for the rest of the month, if this is ok? I have £40 to last me until the end of the month. It will be interesting as I have very little in stores, so I will be perusing the site to find meals that don't use too many ingredients and not expensive. I was horrified to see that a head of cauliflower was over a £1! The amount is for myself and hubby, and will be for food only.

We have just moved into our new home six months after having sold our home, so it is nice to be able to get back into a routine. I look forward to being able to join this thread more frequently, will be off to get up to speed with everything. Do you know if all the recipes are still accessible? I am looking for a chicken potato bake recipe.

Welcome peony to the August GC. Links to various recipe threads are on the 1st page - posts #2 & #3.

  • Hello all, I am a long time lurker and secret money saver, but totally new to posting on a forum of any kind, please forgive me if I get something wrong! I thought it was time to jump in with both feet, I am a busy mum to 4 boys under 11 I work full time and need to be more organised, I figured having a meal plan would help me to feed us better and stop spending frivolous amounts of money because of a supermarket trolley dash for something quick for tea! So I have made a start with the GC for the last 2 weeks of August so I am ready for September 100%. Mof4 x

    Hello new people!

Spent another £21.22 taking my total up to £102.84/£150. That was mainly on veg.

I was walking round MrT and seeing things I usually would have thrown in the trolley and thinking to myself "I can't pick those up because I don't want to admit to all the GC people I've spent too much money on cr*p."
