Signing in for another month at £253.10 please
And another attempt at staying below £200, though I'm going to be realistic and lift my target for max spends in shops from £105 to £150.
went to Costc0 to stock up on chicken breast fillets - and boy did I stock up !!!
Including the end of this week there are 22 weeks to end of year.
For one week I'm on holiday, so 21 weeks of cooking for me and DS1 with one chicken meal a week = 42 breasts.
Make one meal a month from next month to include OH, need an additional 4
Take chicken with us for week away (catering for 2 adults, and 3 girls aged 12, 10 and almost 5), so 4 breasts between us
That meant I needed 50 to last until end of year
So I got 5 packs, each with 11 giving me a total of 55. That should give me several weeks worth to carry into next year, as sometimes I won't have when DS1 does (he's had thinly sliced and cooked chicken in a butty tonight, while I'm using up turkey burgers that have been in the freezer a while - and sometimes I'll have a fish meal as he won't eat that). Price tags (which is what I deduct from my budget) came to £69.61  (Did save £15 on that price due to them being on offer, but that money's already spoken for elsewhere now it's been freed up from my grocery budget.)
Add to that some part baked Petits Pains (3 packs of 4 sections of 4) for taking on holiday for packed lunches (the girls see having these instead of sliced bread as a huge treat), a pack of 18 sausages (95% pork and very yummy - 10 for taking on holiday, and 4 portions left for home use) and milk for DS1, and my Costc0 spend came in at £80.44.
Spreadsheet says that to be on target I shouldn't have spent more than £59.05 to the end of day - and I'm now on £106.20
Shop spends (after deducting the savings) is £78.40, which is just over half what I allowed for this month. Might be tight, but I'm still optomistic as I allowed an extra £45 for the chicken (which came in at just under £55) and I've meal planned for most of the month using stuff I already have in house which will keep spends down.
Still need some bits before we go away in 8 days time (I expect OH will insist on paying for the fresh and frozen we pick up on the day we go, but I still need to get things like crisps for pack-ups) including a load of milk to leave here for DS1, but hopefully shouldn't spend much during the 6 days we're away - and that'll help with clawing back a chunk of the current overspend situation.Cheryl0 -

nsd yesterday and deffo today and tomorrow so not doing too bad, have a massive gammon just put in sc there now will cook /honey and slice it on meat slicer to get thinish slices will do dinner tomorrow ,sandwiches next week and freeze a chunk for easy meal in future will make an omelette tonight with the bits left and dollop of sweet chilli sauce and salad. made big pot of spag bol yesterday and froze 3 separate tubs will do 9 meals 3x3 so happy with that too,and cooked off 8 large chicken legs and stripped and bagged them for omelettes, curries and paninis so another9 servings each out of those didn't free up any freezer space as cooked and put it all back in but its a relief knowing I have 25 plus meals in there just to defrost.making 3 ginger cakes this afternoon will slice and freeze those too and plan on 48 iced buns for oh lunches and sons munching will freeze half too. in mood to bake easy stuff so thinking 24 scones as need use up a butter milk will do half fruit half plain. good luck all xxxC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater

I went out on thursday for dinner and didn't have to pay. I didn't think it would be paid for so that was a bonus. We have a separate going out budget and a separate lunch food budget as my work has subsidised meals so I think I'm on track so far.
DH has just gone out and will pick up some lady stuff so I'm just waiting to see what other cr*p he comes back with!0 -
So far spent £52.87 between Tesc*,the C*-*p and M*rris*ns.
