I'm loving the dancing lady, thank you Rosa.

Hello all, I am still super busy and not really getting into it still. Will the time arrive when I'm just used to it? I actually hope not. I've been so lucky with my refurb phone so far Jodles, so I'm pleased to have saved so much money on it. I'm sorry your deal didn't work out so well.

My house plans have been coming along quite nicely DIA, so I'll add a proper update now.
  • Glad to hear the house is progressing nicely. Looking forward to your update :)

Two weeks since my last update? It's shocking how fast time goes by, and this forum is the place I miss so much when I don't get a chance to pop in.

But, I'm here today, it's hump day and I have a little room away from everyone to do my work so lots to celebrate!

Last Monday I had my decorator arrive and he was lovely. I think I can now say that I'm much better about having people in my house to do work. He did take a lot longer to get the work done than he said he would, however, I strongly believe that is due to him trying to keep the cost down for me. By quoting me 2.5 days I only had to pay him 2.5 days, even though he ended up working for around 4 days. I gave him a really good tip so he wasn't very much out of pocket. I now have a lovely dining room and my living room is almost done! I've been doing the living room so it's taking a lot longer. Next step is to put up the cheap furniture I bought and get the rooms looking liveable. Currently my house looks like a bomb has gone off and it's very hard working so many hours and getting home to a tip! Sadly I still don't have any "spare" time to get this done, but need to find some.

The radio has been mixed. My current trainee has just been signed off from the training and has his own show, so I have no one to train. I have decided to rethink the whole training methods as I don't get to do my show much anymore. We had a man contact us to be interviewed last week. We all travelled into the studio for the agreed time for him to phone at that time to say he wasn't coming in as he was going on holiday! Surely he knew that when he booked the interview? So I had to stay and do some work there, which was an evening I could have started to clear things at home. He's apparently coming in at the end of September for his interview.

I've also been learning how to set the systems up for the radio recorded shows and set up the music that is played when there are no presenters in. I've been loving that. Tomorrow I'm being shown how they put the jingles together! It's so interesting and exciting for me to learn that.

On Monday we visited another hospital radio to see what software and equipment they use and to arrange a show with them. I was really excited about going, but I think it irritated the chairlady as she was so off with me. Originally she kept saying that if I wanted to go then we needed to make 2 trips there as there would be too many of us for one car, which the others just dismissed (there were 5 of us going and we all fitted fine in the one car) She didn't speak to me the whole time we were there while being very chatty with one of the guys she has nothing nice to say about, and when I went to help one of their presenters make us drinks she came over to check on what we were talking about. So I can only think she felt I was invading her clique and needed to be shown I wasn't welcome. I definitely felt unwelcome. It's really upset me that she treated me like that, as I've always felt that she and I had a really good rapport, but I guess that's not the case.

But the good of it is that I am learning so much there from the Director and, after I learn the jingles tomorrow, I can pull back on having to go to the studio so often.

Work is going ok. I've been visiting other offices a lot and just basically getting much more involved. That side of things is great, although it is so busy. I was asked on friday to support someone who had to do a presentation for the first time ever and was really nervous. He's a confident person but apparently struggles to stand up in front of a crowd and talk. When it came time for him to do his bit he was caught up on a job and was getting stressed about what took priority so I said I'd do the presentation for him. Between the 2 of us we didn't have a clue, but had been given some basic slides so I just used those and talked them up as much as possible. :). Today when I got into the office he's put a beautiful pot plant on my desk to say thank you! To me it's no big deal, we're all one team and sometimes these things happen, but seeing that level of appreciation has really got me! loveshower.gif

Financially I'm still treating myself with gifts far too often!!! It's a combination of struggling with how busy I am and looking for distractions I think. Finances are ok, but I'm having to steal from other budgets to cover these ad hoc expenses! So, I have to find some time to clear up my house and put things up for sale and stop feeling like I deserve or have earned these "treats".

I think that's everything for now! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far and happy to have arrived at the hump!

  • Happy hump day MT. You sure sound busy, its no wonder you're not on here as often. I only got one extra day and I need to be in bed earlier every night now.

To make things worse, its a bit quiet at work at the moment so that makes me feel even more sleepy lol.

Just think when you have the living room done it will be a lovely place to relax in.

    Take care.

  • Sam, how do these bombs go off in no time at all and yet it takes us hours to clear up the devastation they leave?? It's very unfair. Although chocolate germs would definitely make up for that!

I love that we're all into cute food for kids!!! Ha ha. MTxx
  • Your colleague sounds like a real gem :)

Glad to read you are well MT
