My Journey To My Pot Of Gold

Oh Sam, I wish! Although not specifically those 2 men!
It's not feeling too wonderful, but I need a bit of an attitude upheaval right now, so I'll work on that.
I hope life is treating you well. MTx0 -
Well, said tree has been almost cut down. To be fair, they were a nightmare, so it's good that I don't have to deal with them anymore. They were really high maintenance the whole time they were there. I had to make them leave before cutting the last 2 big branches down as I didn't feel they were being careful enough about where the branches fell and my neighbour had their car and house quite close. I've decided to have to have that tree completely cut down (once I check regulations) and just be done with it.
My neighbour also phoned me (the one with said car and house near my tree) and has asked me about selling my house to him. So I've decided to keep on this declutter route and move out as early in 2016 as I can. He's very welcome to the house.
My declutter week went well. I managed to earn £140 from things I took to Cash Converters and I also put lots into charity shops. I still have more things to go. I'm considering selling some things on eBay, but just not sure I can be bothered with the hassle just to remove one small item out of my house at a time. I want it all gone now.
I do have lots of books and DVDs still to sell, and ziffit works well for me in that respect. I just need some heavy duty packaging for them. Other than that, I have way too much stationery, but can't bring myself to get rid of any. So I'm not going to!
Work is really up in the air still and I expect we'll know more in January, so not too much longer to wait, although the lack of direction is playing havoc with my OCD.
Financially, this is a tough month for everyone, and I've not escaped that this year. I've agreed on who wants what for Christmas so now I just need to find some extra money to sort it out. I've got a strong feeling my 0% card is going to take a bit of a hit, but I am doing what I can to avoid that happening.
On a plus, I needed to buy home insurance today, so I did various quote sites and, without the option of cashback, I've found an amazing price from a reputable company which was far cheaper than the cashback quotes.
I think that's a full update on my general life. Back to better updates again now!
I hope everyone is doing great. I'll catch up on a few diaries now.

I'm feeling back in control of spends now. My next thing is to order the last of the christmas presents, which are the more expensive ones, without breaking the bank too much. I've not even sent out cards yet!!!!!
I did manage to refrain from buying anything based on the Black Friday deals.I saw that there was one item that was on my present buying list, so bought that for a bargain, and didn't order anything else! Writing this reminded me I had some promotional credit to use as I'm a Prime member, so that's been spent now on 2 business style books! Based on the books I buy on Kindle, I think I end up earning from my Prime membership.
I've also just cancelled a booking I'd made to go on another India retreat next year. I wasn't sure if I should go or not, but have now made the definite decision that I won't. No charge for cancelling either.
Another weekend of decluttering planned. I'm looking at sorting out paperwork and more clothes that I've found! I'm a bit confused as to what to do about paperwork, as I do like to keep it in case I need to refer back, but it takes up way too much room. Clothing should be a case of using the Kondo method and emotionally detaching. That's the toughest part for me, which is why reading other lovely diaries helps to push and motivate me (A special thank you to Rosa xx)
I hope everyone is having a great and prosperous week.

Wow MT that is a rather big nugget of news you slipped in there about selling the house! Does this put you closer to your other plans? I remember you mentioned you'd looked at moving to another area.
Well done on getting yourself back to balance - sorry to hear you won't be going on the India trip, but hopefully something else will arrive instead

Hello :j
Well done on resisting Black Friday;)
I am now clutter free ish ...well except for pile of clothes but have those listed on fleabay. If they don't sell I think I will donate to a cancer charity or a woman's refuge near me.
I wouldn't bother with fleabay if you have other avenues it really is a pain in the backside.
I have bought myself a new handbag for doing so well with my de-cluttering lol which has given me a boost.:D
Glad to hear you are still loving the Radio
Thinking of you ...Let's hope 2016 will be our year :beer:Grocery challenge Feb £107/£100-epic fail due to cake and biscuits

Hello Rosa. Selling my house has been at the back of my mind a lot for a while, although I've never really moved any further forward. Now I'm determined to be able to sell soon. By the end of Feb would be good but I'm hoping to be able to do that earlier, if possible.
Sam, you put me to shame with your strong declutter skills. I'm definitely getting much better now though.
This weekend felt quite tough to be honest. Things I'd planned with Mr3TL didn't happen with him, but I still had to go. Also as Christmas feels quite imminent now and my vision for this Christmas has obviously gone awry. It's life, I know, but I was hoping it wasn't my life right now.
I did manage to get my deposit back though for a meal I'd booked for us both, so no money lost which, at this time of year is quite a bonus.
I'm also spending today working on clearing my kitchen down to things I need and use rather than all the other bits I have that may come in useful one day!!!! That "one day" hasn't happened in all the time I've lived here and, let's face it, kitchen utensils won't break the bank if I do suddenly decide I desperately need something. For today it's all about the sink. Fly lady shiny sink and a clear under sink cupboard. I've been reminded of the oven cleaning obsession I had a while back with all the different products I have. I used to get up in the night when I couldn't sleep and clean my oven to tire me out! Maybe I need to reinstate that habit! 😴
I also set up my 2016 YNAB budget with much more realistic categories. So on Friday I'll add all totals to it and can start afresh for the new year.
I hope you're all having a bearable Monday. MT xx0 -
I now have the shiniest sink thanks to the fly lady baby steps plan. I also have a nicely arranged under sink cupboard. 👌
Due to clearing out the cupboard and general cleaning, I have managed to remove much more from my house than I brought in this week. Very happy with that.
I think I'll concentrate on finding more charity shop fodder next weekend. 👍0 -
Monday gone OK here thank you
Sounds like you needs some ((hugs)) MT. Sorry to hear the Mr 3TL related plans are not quite as hoped. Maybe there is a gorgeous new neighbour awaiting you though!
I can so emphasise with the 'might need it one day' thing - I am similarly clearing out small things that I kept thinking it would save me buying them again, but they've actually just taken up space for 3 years and I'm unlikely to want them when I do move. For me I think this is another part of progress on getting DF - I am much less worried about the cost of replacing things now that I am less stretched, so it feels easier to let stuff go.
FlyLady rocks

Hi MT. I've finally caught up with your diary. I'm so sorry things are a bit up in the air at the moment. Have you got plans for Christmas Day?
I was as shocked as Rosa about you casually dropping the house move into your conversation lol. Have you been looking for other properties yet?
I'm going to do a bit of a declutter in DD's room this afternoon. I know she's 15 and could do it herself but she's so tired at the moment from having her mocks. And I did ask her permission and told her to hide anything she didn't want me to find lol. I know she keeps a venting diary and that's her personal space. A lot to do with her dad. Long story.
I think we all need a fresh start in 2016. I've tried to thing of a good moto for us all but drawing a blank at the moment. Any ideas?
Sending lots of virtual hugs and thank you again for being here for me.

Hello my favourite lady,:j
Sending you some hugs to help you through.
As always I remain the stress head.;)
Maybe I will check out Fly Ladybut No Thanks to oven cleaning at 2am for me
I have lost everything before and started again from scratch so I have a different perspective that it's "only stuff" plus I love the way decluttering kind of equates to tidy place tidy brain and don't pound shops sell everything these days so if things did hit the fan ...quick and easy replacement to be had
I suspect they would sell boyfriends for £1 except so many would get returned under FAULTY - Claims to be one thing yet turned out to be not fit for purpose ..:rotfl:
For the now be your own best friend and lots of Wine O' clocks coming round at xmas time :A
Christmas time is a wonderful opportunity to invest some me time into you and you don't need a Mr for that. Treat yourself well and things will soon get back on track.
Remember life is for living and as they say no pain no gain
Exciting and scary about the move but what a great opportunity to make 2016 a year to remember with fresh starts and new opportunities.
Are you being driven mad with Xmas song requests at the Radio station yet:rotfl::xmastree:
