Thank you bellevie. I'm not actually sure which way I hope it will go, which I'm thinking is a positive thing as there's obviously pros and cons to both sides. Having my mortgage paid off and being in the Christmas cover months means I'm not fretting at all about it, although it's obviously on my mind a lot.

I am feeling happy, although I also have so much to be happy for. With the help of this forum and other areas I now really focus on the good things of life and try to distract myself from the bad. It genuinely makes me feel much happier when I just see good things.

Sam, I'm a true believer that things will work out well in the end (what's that saying? "Things will be good in the end. If things aren't good, it's not the end")

I'm still trying to figure out what I can now do with my hair, although since having it cut I've only washed it when getting ready for work so haven't invested any time yet! orjnfq.gif

So, my training has now been booked and paid for, and I also went to get my eyes tested today! I do need new glasses, which cost me £160. This is for 2 sets of lenses (frames were buy 1 get 1 free) with the anti-glare on them for computer work. I only need them for computer work so I can claim £75 back from work.

I figured I should get myself up to date on all things I need that work will give financial help for, especially as staring at a computer screen all day is the main reason I need a new glasses prescription.

I've also given my finances a "coupledom" revamp. It's probably odd to say, but my spending priorities were different as a single girl to how they need to be now. I'm pretty sure I've thought of everything, but no doubt it will organically evolve over time.

I also recognised today that SB is a real gift buying boost, meaning I don't need to stash away as much of my salary when I can boost my gift buying pot with online store vouchers. Or I can have a toiletries pot from vouchers. Things like that.

Ooh, feeling very focussed again! I do love that organised feeling!

Blasted thing is refusing to do multi quotes so...

Brilliant that you've got your training sorted and also that you are happy with both potential options. And regarding 'not the end' - have you ever read this? It's a funny little gem and only 99p on Kindle.

I absolutely agree about realistic budgeting and leaving flexibility instead of pulling the purse strings too tight and hiding things on the credit card... having just learnt this yet again :o. Hurrah for new haircut, bet you look fab :T

    Hello Rosa,

I've bought that book on Kindle, thank you. I'll have a look at that this weekend. Plus, it was free based on my prime membership where I state I can wait a few days and so get £1 added to my kindle account. Wooh!

I've spent so much time going over and tweaking my monthly budget allowance. I can't really put it in place for November as I needed to juggle a few things around, but I'm confident I've thought of the majority of things. It's quite nice to see a list of every category I spend money on and see an allocated amount there too. A realistic amount at that!

Today I've had a bit of a musical chairs game with my money. Each month I have to pay in a certain amount of money into accounts to be eligible for their rewards, but I stupidly set these up to go out on the last working day of the month (my payday). So today I've sent money around each account for November so I'll now update my standing orders to a better date.

It's going to need to be a really frugal couple of months now, so I'm going to look at selling a few bits and pieces and just generally having another declutter at home.

In other news, my weekend was lovely. I didn't do a great deal, although Mr 3TL did meet my group of close friends which felt like a real stress to start, but that quickly subsided as they're so welcoming and lovely, and so is he. I'd taken pumpkins, cutters and templates with me so that we had something to take attention away from conversation, and that worked really well. We made some great pumpkin carvings. I'll have to add them on here soon.

The rest of the weekend was fairly quiet which meant not much spending, other than grocery shopping, where I spent way too much!!! Going to need to be careful there too otherwise that bill could really soar!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far.

Hi MT! Pleased to see that things are going well with work and the love life! Good balance to try and achieve! Agree with the realistic budgeting, can be easy to think you can save everything but I find that can lead to binge spending ie I have already bought X so I may as well buy Y and Z as well!

Thank you Jodles. You're so right about the binge spending once the seal has broken. I can ride that wave for days!

  • dancegirl2.gif Hello Gorgeous

I totally agree regarding spends ...it costs to be a couple lol so I count plus one as .5 of a person so that my budget for food etc allows for him too. Not that I subsidise him at all but I just know as a two its more expensive than as a one .. which is kind of odd as I always thought two would work out cheaper i.e split the cost.

I do think when we are alone we tend to scrimp or make do just that little bit more.

Goodness knows what is happening with me - I can see the end goal in sight I just keep moving the goalposts to when I am going to get there.

Umming and ahhing about listing on fleabay - but just not motivated at the moment due to work being stressful.

Finally feel as though the flu is gone so fingers crossed that's my lot and I don't catch anything else this winter .

Hope all is good for you xx

I've not had much chance to pop on here recently and it's all been going on!!! :o

New Director has joined and has been having lots of meetings to help get to know the staff. Mine has been cancelled twice, but I'm not fretting about that.

Mr 3TL has had some bits and pieces going on which has knocked the wind out of him, so he's internalising at the moment, although I do keep checking in on him. He and I are still great, I just wish he'd talk more about the things on his mind.

So with the 2 bits above, I'm completely out of my comfort zone and feeling a little .......... limbo stuck. I'm not good when other people and other situations affect my life this much.

As a result I've opened fire on the CC! So, I need to figure out the damage and put plans in place to get back on track and some coping mechanisms as neither situation is likely to fix itself this year.

On the plus side, I'm on another great training course for the next 3 days which will really help my future in whichever direction I take it.

I also realised that the best way to help myself right now is to eat foods I know are good and right for me, so I went shopping and bought lots of healthy supplies. Then came home and cooked up a storm ready for the week.

So, I'm going to sign off now as I hate feeling this way and don't want to spill any of my toxic fumes onto my diary :). I think the course will help my mood as well as the good foods I've got, so I'll be back in a few days with a chirpier report!

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. MTxx
