  • Yay! Well done you joining the committee - and how lovely that you stayed to get all the requests in.

I can see what you mean about the credit cards - I've done the same the last couple of months :o. When I've paid for my very last college module I will get rid of one and that will only leave one for emergencies.

    Happy Wednesday :j

Ahhh, hello lovely ladies. Thank you for your words of encouragement and support.

I'd love to change my user name to Jackpot Lady! I don't think MSE allow name changes unless there's a safety reason for asking? Maybe I should ask them anyway? :D

I'm feeling a deeper sense of control again over finances. I have 2 birthdays and a weekend away this month, which I'm not 100% sure where the money will come from, but I'll figure it out.

This weekend was fantabulous. Mr 3TL and I (the Jackpot Lady ;)) went to Brands Hatch to watch a friend of his race his bike. Because we'd been invited by his friend, he'd sorted paddock tickets for us, so we were able to wander freely around behind the scenes watching everyone tinkering with their bikes. Thecamaraderie was amazing, and so lovely to witness and be a tiny part of. We were also able to watch any race from any part of the track. It made for a very special day. After we found a beautiful country pub and he treated me to dinner and then we went back to mine to watch a film.

On Sunday we popped out on our bikes for a couple of hours. I really wasn't feeling it though so we stopped off by the water and had a little rest in the grass with some music on watching the boats go by and the planes fly over! Idyllic!

This week I need to get into the habit of writing what I spend and where.

I've also ordererd the Style Statement, thanks to Rosa's recommendation as my sense of style is quite shocking really which is highlighted now that I have places to go and people to meet!!!! :o

In other news, my newest trainee (who has been trained by another for 6 weeks prior to him coming to me) is going to be doing his own show this Friday! He's been great in texting me with questions to check his ideas are ok, and he's so good at watching what I do on air and asking questions. I feel quite excited to give him this freedom.

My other trainee, the really shy one who's been with me a while, isn't really progressing much. Anything I ask him to do (like choose the music for half the show, or find some snippets in the newspaper we can talk about) he's just not doing and has really vague reasons why not. Then he complains that he's not been given his own show yet, which makes me think he's not holding back out of shyness. I'm not asking him for anything that would constitute leaving his comfort zone, I'm incredibly careful of that, I just get the impression he doesn't have much oomph about him and half expects things to fall in his lap without making any effort. Hopefully, if he sees the latest lad being given his own slot, he'll put a little more effort in.

Right, it's Wednesday, it's hump day, it's "half way through the week" day but it's disgustingly wet outside and, in London, the trains have been up the spout, so to speak! So the dancing ladies have gone on strike for a week! At least! They've said they'll have a rethink and get back to me about next Wednesday nearer the time!

    Have a lovely day! MTxx

Sounds like a lovely weekend MT/ JL ;)

Great news about your new trainee, and a little sad that the other one isn't taking up your suggestions - it seems to me you have been very considerate. If you get any moaning again, I would point out that he needs to do each step in order to get to that goal - how would he do a show if he hasn't practiced doing any of the pieces!

I've started working through the Style Statement questions and am enjoying them. It's very open and about finding the things that you cherish and which make you tick, not fitting you into a box by your shape or personality type. I've already noticed a couple of things that I kind of knew about myself, but hadn't really thought much about before. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am.
