your gp wouldn't do any blood tests or even retest you.
in my area you go to the gp, tell him you're up the duff, he refers you to the midwife and everything starts from there. she will do all your exams and bloods, i only saw my gp twice the whole time i was expecting, when i went to see him to tell him i was preggers and at 38 weeks when i fainted and they thought i had diabetes. my gp gave my oringinal date as 5 nov, the midwife changed it to the 1st, my scan changed it to 23rd oct and she came on the 27th!!! i wouldn't worry about the date until you have seen the midwife.
congratulations by the way!!0 -
3 weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things, considering a normal pregnancy can last 38 - 42 weeks.
It is an exact science, and when you have your first scan they will tell you, you are 12wks +4 for example, which means you are 12 weeks and 4 days pregnant.
Babies come when they are cooked! as my nan usedf to say."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
Johanne - not sure what your allergy is, but if it's a hayfever type thing you can use medinose or the Lloyds allergy reliever whilst pregnant.

Congrats!
I had a hell of a time because my periods are so irratic and really unpredictable. As everyone said though, wait until your scan, I had 3 different dates before my scan confirmed the 11th of Dec!** Mummy to little Jenna born on 23/12/07 **

The dates really don't matter at the moment. As the new film Waitress says when asked how pregnant am I the Dr replies there really is only 1 degree - pregnant!
Love it, will have to remember that one
Congratulations, as the others have said, dont worry about the dates its all guess work (with a little science thrown in) really at this time, when you get a scan around 12weeks they will give you a better idea, to be honest there isnt a lot for the GP to examine at this stage, in the grand scheme of things 3weeks is neither here nor there, enjoy the pregnancy and as I said congratulations0 -
Congratulations on your pregnancy.
I wouldn't worry about the difference at this stage, just enjoy the pregnancy, you dating scan will confirm the dates better for you.
I thought I was 12 weeks pregnant with my DS when I went for my first scan(my dates 19/07/04) the scan put me at 9 weeks(3/08/04),he was born 20/07/04 just after midnight.
They will come when they are good and ready.

I agree, don't worry. You'll get a date for a scan soon enough and then they will measure the baby and tell you how many weeks & days pregnant you are. It is quite normal for a GP not to even examine you or even do another test to confirm.
There was about a 2 week discrepency over my dates with my first child. I had been charting and using ovulation prediction kits and I KNEW exactly when I'd conceived, but because I didn't have a regular cycle the doctor put my dates down from my last monthly period. The scan corrected the dates in line with what I already knew, but the little one had other ideas and still put in an appearance at 37 weeks! Dates are really just a guideline and the baby can arrive early or late, just be prepared for anything! Congratulations and have a happy and safe pregnancy.0 -
Congratulations! When you see your MW for the booking appointment and begin to tell her what you've told us about negative tests/positive tests etc, because you are uncertain of your dates he or she would be requesting a dating scan - I would be - i'm a MW
Don't worry about the GP not examining you - at 7 wks there shouldn't be anything palpable yet. Your care will problably be shared with your own MW and the consultant unit at the hospital, and so wouldn't worry about it.0 -
..........
Going by my last period or "bleed".. the first day was 24th june which makes me 7 weeks pregnant now .........
You are definitely not pregnant on the 1st day of a period. That was 24/6.
You most likely ovulated about 14 to 16 days later - that would be 8th/10th July. (It could even as been as late as the 12th)
Conception could be the following day 9th/11th (or 13th) July.
Unless you used a very high sensitivity test (which is the version with lower accuracy) that has a 7 to 10 day minimum period after conception to detect a pregnancy, on or around 20th to 24th July, then the test would almost certainly be negative.
If the dates of 9th - 13th are true, you could be just over 4 weeks gone.
