I think the point is that the ever-increasing complexity will cause more buyers more problems, so more people will continue to decide that the lower economy of petrol is worth it for the lower hassle.0

I heard something a few days ago, regarding a new diesel refining plant, in Saudi Arabia, meaning there will more diesel on the market and this might drive prices down.0

Unless they've changed the rules of the game, behind my back - the Saudis do not allow diesels cars into the country.
Have you checked the price of petrol in SA - cheaper than water.0 -
