freeview via broadband

OK situation here , TV ariel has "done one" , due to contractual reasons etc etc , replacement / repair is not an option.

wanted : freeview box that uses a ethernet cable

I want to recieve the main freeview channels live , ie: bbc1 bbc2 itv , dave , quest.

NOT catch up , or on demand .

as an emergency I have set up "not TV" on a raspberry Pi running XBMC ,

but would prefer a simple "plug in" box with dedicated remote ,

can,t seem to find the correct words to discribe on google what I want , and keep getting offered nowTV boxes etc

    Rephrase what you want.

There is no such thing as a "freeview box that uses a ethernet cable".

Freeview is broadcast via TV signal thus isn't going to be picked up via ethernet.

What you want is a TV streaming service, such as the one steviebabes has pointed out.

    Here's another one http://www.tvcatchup.com/tv-guide
The main problem is they don't do the HD channels. But, you could use the catch up service, like BBC iPlayer for HD if you need it.
Of course you could look at services like Sky now etc

is your query intentionally obscure, it makes little sense unless you are in a cell

You could look at something like THIS.............
As a matter of interest, why can't you repair your aerial?

OK , I have got a £450 Intel Nuc set up that will blow that chineeze lump out of the water ,

I have yet to find a Uk TV service (live) application that will work on android/openelec

yes you can use "not film on" , it works , but this situation requires a simple stand alone (settop box) that the person who needs this can use.

in my first post I mentioned the words "NOT catch up , or on demand " and "as an emergency I have set up "not TV" on a raspberry Pi running XBMC ,

but would prefer a simple "plug in" box with dedicated remote ,"

I DO NOT want an android type box , just a stand alone unit

there is NO signal with an indoor ariel in the property , and because its flats/shared with multiple owners , getting access to the (flat) roof is not possible , neither is sticking a "freeview" dish up ., or getting sky to pop round.

the only usable way to get TV is via his fibre connection
