Been on a dmp with stepchange for 3 months now and all going okay (wish I'd done it years ago!)... anyhow just noticed my Lloyds credit card has gone from my online banking and wondered if that meant they had sold it on perhaps? Thanks
Hi, Tiggerlou
I have a credit card with Lloyds too and it has disappeared from my Lloyds online banking. It always used to be there since I started my DMP over 3 years ago but I have to confess that I hadn't checked my account online for about 4 months so have no idea when it 'disappeared':o. The whole look and layout of the website is different, they have obviously had a revamp and probably did it then.
They may not necessarily have sold it on, seems a bit early in your DMP for that to have happened. They never did sell mine on:eek:. I started off owing them £15,000 and have now paid just over half of it back. They seem to deal with stuff 'in house' through various departments like 'Collections' etc. Maybe others have had different experiences though and may have other information for you.
You can always see the current state of play with your payments and existing account balances by checking your credit history via Noddle or another free credit reference company.
My Lloyds current account is still showing on my Lloyds internet banking pages but I don't owe them anything on that one;)0 -
Thanks carbootcrazy.... I'll have a look on clearscore and noodle and see if anything has changed xxx0

Hello
I was hoping for some advice on full and final settlements.
In the very near future I will be getting an inheritance which will be over and above the debts we have.
Obviously being only human, and with three young children and a house which would benefit from an extension, we would like to keep as much money as possible!
We have only been with StepChange a couple of months.
What advice would you offer?
Pay off the debts in full?
Leave StepChange, go self managed?
Approach the creditors ourselves?
Start at 20% FF offers?
And tips and advice would be gratefully received.
I understand that StepChange don't really deal with FF payments and like everyone to be treated the same.
We would like to be debt free, but also would like our family to benefit from the inheritance too!!0 -

Wait until you have the money, then negotiate yourself, in writing, with each individual creditor.
Keep your cards close to your chest, don't divulge how much you have, or from where it came.
Aim to settle each one for as little as possible, in order to do this you can tell them anything, say your considering bankruptcy, your about to lose your job, be as ruthless as they are.
Don't expect a great deal unless you haggle a great deal !!!
The only problem you may have is that original creditors don't give much discount, much better for you if the accounts had been bought by debt collectors.

I've only every sent I&E statement and have never sent any personal documentation such as bank statement/payslips. I would just write back and confirm the I&E confirms your financial situation and leave it at that. Then just start/keep paying them whatever has been identified in the I&E statement.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

As January says, they have the right to ask for anything, its a free country, under the same observance of rights, you also have the right to decline, it works both ways.
A Statement of Affairs is sufficient for any creditor to determine your financial position, you should send them a copy of the SOA, and nothing more.
Another reason for not giving away personal information is because of what those companies do with said info, by sending them your personal info, you are actually agreeing to them sharing that information with other 3rd party companies, people wonder how these people get hold of phone numbers, how they know your birthday, certain medical problems, money issues, illnesses, etc etc.
Its because people write and give them this info, thinking its confidential, when it isn't, any info you share in this situation is regarded as fair game, as youve chosen to share it.

Sounds like a plan is forming, best of luck with it. Sounds like maybe best way is to ignore such requests for payslips etc rather than actually get into a refusal situation.

Please try to not to worry too much though. You have so much going for you now and we are all rooting for you too. Your presence on this thread giving unfailing help, encouragement and inspiration to everyone is a blessing to us all:kisses3:
You said so much sense in your post, especially the last paragraph:T. There are routes through this, probably different ones for all of us. We just need to take a few deep breaths, re-think our attitude to money and what is and isn't important in life. Something as simple (and inexpensive:j) as the teacake and coffee that you enjoyed (and probably more enjoyable for being a rare event and so much more appreciated for that) is a great example:T.
Yes, we can live happy and contentented lives without the latest model of heating timer (mine doesn't work either:() or cooker. Had to replace my cooker this year as neither oven or 3 of the 4 zones on the hob worked(by stopping payments on SC to get a bit of emergency cash:o to cover all the things that conked out at once). My microwave doesn't work either (gone to the tip and not yet replaced) so a cooker seemed the best and cheapest option to cover all bases. I shopped around carefully, checked cashbacks etc, until I found the very best bargain I could. It is certainly much more basic than any I've ever had in my life before (hence the low price;)) but it fits the bill perfectly. In the old days I'd have bought the latest 'top' brand with lots of extras that I'd never use/need and just bung it on the credit card:eek:. I can honestly say that I don't miss those days at all, my attitudes to and appreciation of what is important in life have completely changed for the better:j. Going on a DMP is the best decision I ever made, and not just financially.
Take care of yourself, Sazz. You are an absolute star on this thread:A
Hey CBC thanks for the support and kind words. (I wasn't out for sympathy, it was just a few comments in case it helps others who like me get stuck sometime, but it's lovely of folk to comment).
I find I get into an anxiety spiral, over things like, I should have done this, so what if that happens and then the boss finds out and I'll get the sack and lose the house etc etc,
Or xxx happens in the news then world war will break out and the financial system will collapse and all my savings will get taken away etc etc, I think it's called catastrophe thinking and the grounding grateful really does seem to help. I suppose it's a bit like living in the moment.
I've been so much better at other stuff lately, with more confidence (and sleep) and I've started to look at more ideas of changes in my life that I'd ike to achieve. I hadn't realised how exhausted I must have been, and how badly that was impacting. My work paid for me to sign up to an on-line sleep course, it has really helped, though I ought to be sleeping now :eek.
For anyone that's struggling, sometimes finding the right help can open lots of doors. Don't give up looking for the solutions to your problems, but sometimes it's not the obvious help that creates the most impact.
