Evening all
When I get a bit anxious, I try to practice gratefulness, apparently it's grounding. With the turmoil of the news events and also some issues going on at work I have a bit of anxiety, so today I was doing my best to be grateful.
That I have a lovely warm house, (I can't set the central heating timer as its bust), that I have food to eat (my oven's bust too but I'm managing with the microwave and hob). That I could afford to go an get a tea cake and coffee while I was in town (in a very cheap shop).
These things would have been out of reach a few months ago and I'm grateful my life is doing ok at the moment; I could have chosen to increase my debt repayments, but I haven't, right now I'm happier having a longer Dfd and a bit more living freedom.
If your life isn't treating you well right now, I'm sorry for rubbing it in and I wish for you the best outcomes, never give up trying to find the route that works for you.
Saz
What a wonderful post Sazzie. Thank you for this. This puts life and debt into perspective so well. :beer:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Hi all,
Going self manages seems to be ok so far. Lot of messing about but not as much as first initiating a DMP..
My biggest debt is my Lloyds load, defaulted ages ago with payments being made. Like everyone else they have been getting tokens for a few months. I've written to ask for BACS details and advised of new proposal but got nothing back. I've not given them anything at all by way of payment since September. I know it's up to them to tell me their BACS details but is it likely to be a problem if payments have dried up for a month or 3 because they have not written back? I've advised along the way I only wish to correspond by letter. Once debit is defaulted creditors seems very relaxed about things I have to say!
Second, our Barclaycard CC debts have been fed to a company called Asset Link Management or something like that so they can be told they'd get a token this month and a new amount as of next Month via self managed DMP. Anyone any dealing with these? These debts were / are not defaulted yet. Are they likely to be now they are handed over to this other organisation?
Thanks all

I would just write to Lloyds again and remind them you are waiting for them to provide bank details in order that you can pay them. I don't believe you will have a problem whether you write or not - but just in case they get funny you have evidence you were in continuous communication with them - and they were not communicating with you!
I can't help regarding BC - despite only paying £1 p/m for a year now they still hold onto our CC accounts. I would love for them to be transferred. Maybe that will be a Christmas present from BC to us :rotfl:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Stop paying them altogether Jan, they will offload them a lot quicker.

Doing that with Argos. Shut down all comms with them at same time as binning off SC so this will be the 2nd month of no payment. Only inclination from them of any acceptance of previous DMPs is freezing of interest on statements. Not one letter ever. This might get em a little more enthused!LBM October 2014  DMP with StepChange as of March 2015

Looks like Barclaycard have upped their game! I've gone self managed (long story for another day - thank you for all the words of advice!) token paid them for a few months, last letter with token explicitly asked for closed account, default etc and I would not be entering into any debate with them about repayment until such time.... tonight - logged in to check my file - default registered and back dated to June 2015! Whoop whoop! 7 out of 15 creditors down!Mrs B ❤️

Hello you lovely people. Just wanted to say hello, haven't been able to get on for a while.
I'm currently on token payments and aiming for defaults. We're having to move for family reasons so trying to survive whilst needing to spend money on DIY so we can sell for the best price.
Wishing you all well Ramble xThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi there,
I am looking for some advice
I am looking to start a debt management i have about 40,000 pound in debt after everything is gone i have about 500-600 left to pay to the creditors on dmp
Does anyone have any dealing will the below will they be ok with the proposal from StepChange
Halifax
Barclays
Santander
Argos
Next
Virgin
Have any of them taken people to court thats my concern ?
Currently i have no arrears but will do next when i stop paying so that the dmp gets setup
I have been also told to open a seperate bank account will i need to make sure that all my direct debits are setup or can i provide the details and the new bank setup them.
Also i have some savings for emergencies do i keep this in my new bank account or put them somewhere else ?
Does anyone have an example of a single persons plan so i can get a feel or are the limits set in the StepChange form which will be accepted ?
Also i see people going down other avenues and doing this on there own is that better ?
Also token paymnents i have been advised to do so to get some savings how long should i do that until activating step managment plan
Many thanks in advance
