The monkey says if you give him more bananas he will do a better job. I think more bananas will just lead to a happier monkey.
If you listen to what the OP says you will realise that the most likely cause of the fault is a faulty sensor and the control module is probably fine and no software update is required.
This monkey doesn't like Kwik Fit getting the bananas. He wants them for himself.
  • Manufacturers trying to get out of honouring their 5 year warranties??

    Shock horror.

In my opinion if you were naive enough to buy a cheap car just because they sold it with a 5+ year "warranty" then you deserve all you get.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply.

I accept that I should have had it serviced, but it was just an oversight. I hadn't made a note of when it was due and it just went out my head. I'm not sure it's fair to say that these things have stopped working due to neglect, as the car has been serviced every year until the end of last year when it was missed. I also wondered whether they'd even have looked at the sunroof anyway. Perhaps all I can do is take it in for a service, point out the faults and hope they are feeling generous.

Incidentally, the fact that Hyundai offer a 5 year warranty had no bearing on my choice of car, but thanks for your helpful contribution Parking Question Chap:D
  • Your welcome

It all comes down to the t&c, if you did not follow them, then there isnt much you can do.

Yep. Much better to buy a decent car with a three year warranty and not have it go wrong in five or six years

For parking sensor you probably need something like this:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HYUNDAI-TUCSON-IX35-ULTRASONIC-SENSOR-REAR-PARKING-SENSOR-GENUINE-957202S000-CA-/151718161602?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item23531b6cc2

Probably need OBD2 scanner tool off ebay to tell you which sensor needs replacing.

I found myself a good aircon specialist who knew what he was talking about. He charges £50 to refill and they put a dye in to test for leaks. Better than a normal garage if you can find one.

You need to study how your sunroof closes. You can probably work out what is happening. May need lubrication.

To be honest your last sentence would solve most things in life.

Thanks Fred! I know which sensor is faulty as the car tells me the area where I'm apparently about to crash into something.

The car needs serviced anyway so I'll speak to the garage to see what they say about fixing it before I attempt to sort it myself.

    Thanks again, everyone!

    Hi all,

Just thought I would give an update in case anyone else stumbles across this thread who would want to know the outcome.

I took my car into Hyundai yesterday to be serviced. The one I missed last year was a minor service, so they carried out the major service recommended after 4 years or 80,000 miles (the car has actually only done 31,000 miles). I asked them to look at the parking sensors and the air conditioning unit while it was in. They are going to replace all four parking sensors and the air con condenser as they said it was corroded, all done under warranty:D

They were very helpful and didn't even mention the fact that a missed service could have been grounds to invalidate the warranty. I paid £340 *gulp* for the service, which did seem like a lot to me, but well worth it as the work they are carrying out under warranty comes to around £1k.

I managed to fix the sunroof by myself, with a little help from MSE. A bit of lubrication was all it needed so WD40 did the job perfectly. Thanks guys!

I posted earlier about Hyundai honouring their warranties and now the OP has been back and they have honoured hers with no issues

Maybe you should have a rethink
