We have had Kias and a Hyundai and all 3 have have had warranty work done without us having to jump through hoops.

Cars are built by groups of highly qualified graduate engineers to very high standards. They are then sold through a network of monkeys. The monkeys need payment so they agree that everyone that buys a new car should go in every year for a £200 stamp. Sometimes the monkeys touch the car if they can be bothered. The longer the 'warranty' the more money the monkeys get.
I think you have rattled a few cages there dizzyscot.

Surely they are built by monkeys, car assembly isn't staffed by highly qualified graduates.

Yes as long as you keep the monkeys happy and pay for the stamp in the book you should be OK. Annoy the monkeys though and you'll get nothing even though there is no logic. A parking sensor would never be touched at a service but they won't fix it under warranty because it's never been serviced.

Car assembly is supervised by highly qualified production engineers.

A "service" is an oilchange & not much else, I think most people accept that its a bit of a "Con"........but thats the rules.
Ive always assumed that no service, no warranty

Same as "Servicing" a boiler is a bit of a con.

Yes, I've just had a Worcester Bosch boiler installed in my dad's house. The installer said "Fabulous boilers, I've had one for years, just keeps going. I've never serviced it." I said to him "I don't think you're really supposed to be saying that". He just laughed.

I know thats off topic, but I also know a few gas engineers who say the same thing

You'd be surprised. I have visited the Hyundai plant in Ulsan, Korea, and more is done by hand than you would think, and they are mostly university graduates.

Thats a Kwikfit and Halfords service. A proper service done by experienced workers is so much more.

Fred: A service may have picked up a faulty control module or software update, Repaired free under warranty.

Air Conditioning may have detected a leak during the service and repaired that also under warranty.

Sunroof would have been greased and adjusted if not operating cleanly.

This is where a proper service varies from a £99 oil change and a list of essential jobs that are currently putting your life in danger like the half worn brakes and tyres that must be replaced now.
