    Very calm.

Taxi to airport booked, will pop into office the day before to confirm (although we always request the same driver who's very organised & reliable).

Clothes chosen, washed, ironed & hung up ready to be packed.

Suncream & other toiletries put in plastic bags and inside OH's shoes.

Swimwear & underwear on spare bed.

Research into resort (if new) done & printed out.

Tickets, passports & money all ready.

    Luggage labels filled out.

Camera & MP3 player batteries charged.

I pack each suitcase half-and-half so if one goes AWOL, we'll have enough stuff to last until it's found.

2 days before we go the kitchen is closed so we eat sandwiches or fruit for lunch and eat out the night before we go.

I'd drive you crazy within the first 10 minutes.

I think I have OCD tendencies as I'm list-driven - not just for holidays but in most things. :o

I have so many Excel spreadsheets you wouldn't believe it.

I know how much money we've taken and how much money we've brought back (handy when you're working out spends for next holiday).

I know how much suncream I took and how much I used.

I mix & match outfits and wear everything I take.

    OMG!

I think I need to lie down.

    Nice thread, Jagraf. ;)

Not much different to any other day.

Having never been on a package holiday as such I just pack a bag pick up my passport and wallet and go.

I either drive to the airport and get on the next available plane going somewhere interesting or drive south and get on a ferry then drive.

Find accommodation when I/we get somewhere nice and enjoy.

My girlfriend has just left on her first solo adventure.

She's normally a package holiday girl but a couple of weeks ago some friends mentioned they were going to their apartment in Spain and would she like to come over for a week.

She wasn't sure about it, she was worried about getting from the airport at the other end along with other nameless horrors as normally all transfers etc. are sorted.

I persuaded her to pack light and just hop on a plane and go for it.

She flew out on Thursday and is having a fantastic time. There were buses or taxis available at the airport and she hopped on a bus and it all went without any drama.

She phoned me an hour ago and said she can't believe how easy it all was and what a great time she's having.

I think I may have converted her.
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.
  • We're going away for 3 weeks on the 21st. We've just spent the morning packing everything but the stuff we need, one case for the city break part and 3 more for the beach. Suncream is split between the cases. We just need to do the kids hand luggage. Taxi is booked, currency ordered. Can't wait!!!!

    OMG!

That's far too early for me.

We go away on 17th and I'll start putting shoes, books, towels & suncream in the case on Monday, then do the underwear/swimwear on Tuesday & put the creasable stuff in on Wednesday afternoon before we go out to eat.

We're off to a festival on Monday for a week - today is a chill day with a bit of washing and food shopping later ( son coming to cat sit) after busy week at work.
Tomorrow I'll sort all the camping kit out that stays under the stairs, then throw a few clothes in a bag tomorrow night.
Monday morning will be toiletries, books, Chargers and food/ cool box.
Load the car and off by 10.00
    Can't wait!

When we fly anywhere it's usually done the night before, pretty organised after all these years.

I do love getting house and washing up together if I've time, but now it's only us 2 at home and the cats it never gets that bad and I can cope with it on my return. With the camping kit, so long as I organise the re packing for our return trip 90% of it can go straight away just leaving cool box to wipe down and the inevitable mountain of manky clothes to wash through!
