I have a simple solution. Cut overseas aid with immediate effect and save £12bn a year instantly. Start looking after your own poor.
Foreign aid benefits Britain economically and politically, it isn't just another form of charitable giving.0 -

i mean, damn, 38 hours a week almost killed me before so 60 would finish me off for sure. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I am disabled person and have worked since I was 17 thanks very much and I am now mid fifties. I a quite proud of myself really being able to sustain work that I can manage while living with a handicap through years of prejudice before being disabled was accepted in the workplace.
I think that makes me pretty stern stuff. Don't you?0 -

My own dad has worked all his life, he should have retired but has kept on working, often 60 hours weeks.. But for a 63 year old he is in damn good health. And he recogises that not everyone is as fortunate to have good health that would enable them to work such hours. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Some people are just provocative and inflammatory on here.0 -
Sorry to be a pain but I thought that people on DLA and ESA (Support Group) were excluded from UC or has that changed now?
Trying to do the calcs but none seem to work for me.
We have 4 children and pay £45 a week childcare.
I earn £5700 + £3500 Carers (approx figures)
Hubby gets ESA inc Support Group (approx £216 per fortnight) & High rate care & mobility DLA.
Any ideas how the cuts are going to affect us?0 -

My father was disabled (registered disabled,as it was in those days) and he worked, full time, as a postman for over 40 years. You didn't have much option in the days before generous benefits were paid.
(Which doesn't mean I'm unsympathetc to your current situation, by the way.)0 -
