tried to report tescos to the ombudsman, but it says I can't as my delivery saver was taken out before 1 Dec 2014 hv copied and pasted below
STEP 2
Before proceeding further we need to double check that you are eligible to bring your complaint to The Retail Ombudsman at this time:
Did you purchase the goods or services after 1 December 2014?
Yes No
Note: Sorry we can only deal with complaints in relation to goods or services purchased after 1 December 2014.
so anyone out there that signed up after that date pls report tescos on my behalf!0 -
I was annoyed too that Tesco with 2 weeks notice changed the terms of my delivery saver half way through. I do usually spend more than £25 (thousands over the year actually in Tesco with fuel and everything else) but that's not the point, when I signed up the terms were a minimum of £25 and sometimes I only need a small shop, or a top up shop. I could shop every 2 weeks to ensure that I spend over the £40 but fresh stuff won't last that long and a lot of my shopping is fresh food. I called the delivery saver line, told them I was annoyed and asked what portion of my delivery saver I would get back if I cancelled (I renewed a couple of months ago) and to my surprise they've refunded the whole lot! It obviously depends who you speak to as some people have only had a portion refunded. I will now use my local Lidl for most things which is cheaper anyway and I already use the butcher/local farm shop for meat anyway so that won't change. Tesco have been losing customers and profit for a while now, whoever in their PR department came up with this is obviously not on their side! I feel sorry for pensioners/single people who probably can't afford/don't need to spend more than £25 regularly. As well as using Lidl I will now be shopping around for everything as I'm now totally fed up with the way Tesco treat their customers - they've obviously decided that loyalty means nothing and I expect the Clubcard will be next to go.0

I had a chat with an accountant years ago, and they really hate people who try it on with the quantity discount trick, because it just creates so much work in the accounts department.
Typically, a customer would order 10 items when they only want say 8, and then try to return the two, hoping no one will notice.
Naturally, the account clerks end up having to check for bulk discount for EVERY return, and REMOVE the discount manually, so they refund 2 x unit price - discount.
Eventually, the extra man-hours wasted will have to be paid for by increasing the prices.0 -
Surely it must cost more than £1 just in petrol though, quite apart from maintaining the fleet of vans.
I always thought either the reduction to £1 per delivery or the £25 min must have been teaser rate to attract people in. It works if most stay and we're famous for not switching. Well the British public is - in terms of 17 years with a bank or utility providers - not those of us on MSE forums! Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -

£40?! I'm a single person and I don't drive and I don't fancy walking 2 miles with my shopping. There's now way I can afford £40 a time (let alone have the space for that much shopping in a small flat!). From now it looks like I'll be going elsewhere for my shopping online. Goodbye Tesco.0

I think any moral outrage against the supermarkets instantly loses credibility when you get people suggesting ordering perishable items like £15 beef joints or sides of salmon with the sole intention of refusing it at delivery.0

Quite. As an aside, if they get away with this minimum spend hike, any bets on the £1 delivery slots being next in the firing line, followed by midweek delivery saver etc. etc.0 -
I read the article and it mentioned that Click + Collect was minimum £40 for free as well.
Is this right ? If I order a £20 sweater from Tesco Direct, I have to pay £4 to pick it up at a local store ?
Surely not.
Can anyone clarify please.
Cheers - Joe0 -
Single person who rarely spends more than £30 here.
I've just cancelled my Delivery Saver with Tesco and am going back to ASDA. They still have the £25 minimum spend if you a) order after 4pm on weekdays and b) don't join their Delivery Saver thing, according to what I've read.
TBH I found ASDA to be cheaper than Tesco, but they used to have stock issues and a lot of mouldy fruit and veg. Hopefully that's now changed, otherwise I'll try Sainsburys after"The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0
