Prom limo no show
Hi all
My son ordered a limo for his prom for him and some friends and it didn't turn up. After waiting 20 minutes after the time the limo was supposed to turn up we gave up waiting and the parents drove them instead. The limo hire company are saying they were only 9 minutes late and were just around the corner when we phoned to cancel, which we are disputing.
They are refusing to give us a full refund and have offered less than half of the full cost (£500).
Any suggestions as to how to recuperate this money?
Thanks

Not really a motoring forum issue, but what does the contract say about cancellations in the event of a delay?0

Did you phone them to find out if they were coming but delayed? If not then I don't think you have much chance of a refund.0

So you have the time of booking and will have the time of cancelling from your phone bill ... can then take it from there ...0
-
So when you phoned them to cancel, did you first ask them where your limo was???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

My guess is the OP did not call them at the time but just decided to drive them all to the prom but hopefully he/she will confirm?0

I'm just boggling at £500 for a taxi ride to their school.0

When they were ten minutes late, we phoned to find out where he was and got no answer, then after another ten minutes the driver phoned us to say he didn't think he was going to get to us in time. THEN the parents put the kids in their cars. Two people from the company are giving us different information (manager says he was just round the corner, driver says he was not going to make it...) I know £500 is silly money but try telling 13 16-year-olds that. They're talking about a contract but we haven't seen one - we've got text messages and times of calls. What I would like is some advice on where to go next. When I phone the owner to discuss a refund he shouts at me and then hangs up.0

OK, so the first thing to do is to ask them for a copy of their usual terms and conditions.
The next thing is to speak to your local authority private hire licencing department, and ask them for their thoughts - "prom limos" need to be licenced, just the same as taxis do.0
