I struggle to make sense of dentist's charges. I was away at my sister's once and needed emergency treatment. I got a same day appointment at her NHS dentist and paid £45 for a temporary filling. When I got home I went to my own (private) dentist, as advised by emergency dentist. He replaced the temporary filling with a permanent one - for £45. I only see a private dentist because I've been with him for a long time and he switched from NHS a few years ago when there was some big hoohah, can't recall what now. I reckon they make it up as they go along with the charges.

Work is quiet, so I'm sneaking off to spend my one and only Walkers voucher now :)

mhoc I hadn't realised it was that expensive at the dentist

My bro doesn't have an NHS dentist and he pays he went to emergency dentist for a filling after trying a filling thing he bought in Boots that didn't work .

Think it cost him £18 for the dentist filling.

we possibly have an expensive dentist but the previous dentists was so horrible he terrified me and we stopped going - this was probably the worse decision I ever made.
The new dentist started at the practice and he had to do a salvage job but he was very understanding and he got my trust and confidence again - you have to be able to trust your dentist 100%

This is why I still pay for the kids dental treatments, much rather the mither of getting them home twice a year to see our own dentist and then I know they have been treated properly.

I suppose as with all things now you are supposed to shop around and compare prices

I think my dentist still takes children as NHS patients which is reasonable

Yes I think they do make their prices up as they go along - vets are even worse theough
